That is certainly the case, we are running out of money and I don't think the board will wait another year to make a cardinal decision: either sell the name of Nou Camp or sell one of the trident. To me is the most logical one to sell the name of the stadium, because Nou Camp means nothing, Camp Nou can be Emirates or another Idontgiveacrapistan, but with whole independence of Catalunya that might be a problem.

We're not selling any one of the trident, that would be ridiculous as we might win less trophies therefore less money.

It's not my idea, I read it on ESPN. Obviously Barca needs players and with current state of finances it's not going to be possible. That's why we are going get someone on loan in January , until there's plan about getting additional funds. So the journalist who wrote an artcle provided different possible solutions which I mentioned in my post.

I wanted to say that's a british media theory but refrained haha.

I've read that yes, and LaPorta saying something similar obviously didn't help, but if we have to sell one of MSN because of money, that would be the biggest fail of any board Barça has ever had i'd say.

The lack of money to get someone in january is real though, and it's already a big fail in my book, while Nolito is dying to come, for only 18M...

Selling camp nou's name is happening. Already in talks, it'll happen soon.

what bothers me is the sheer ineptitude of the management in securing our finances...the team is doing its part and winning historic trebles yet the management can't capitalize on the on field success and generate enough revenue?

meanwhile manchester utd. continues to get mega-deals and ludicrous sponsorships despite playing some truly soul crushing football and finishing 4th to 7th in a poor EPL.

Manchester United is a public company, FC Barcelona is privately held. Maybe Barca could offer public stock, which with this kind of brand recognition should generate decent value for the stocks. But no presidential candidate ever discussed it and I don't think it's an option now. Obviously for any presidential candidate or board of directors going public means losing the influence or maybe the job. I seriously doubt that Barto could maintain his presidency if Barca was public. Instead, they are sitting in their offices now and thinking what will generate more cash selling Messi or the name Nou Camp.

So, apparently the club had to pay bonuses to the staff which made the CL win costly.

Meanwhile, Juventus managed to earn almost 30 M more than Barca in CL last season, despite being runners-up…

It’s funny how Barca won the treble and spent less than 20 M (total expenditure) in the summer transfer window, but still can’t afford buying Nolito for 18 M in January and even worse – risk of losing one of MSN.

Both Barca and Real are member-owned, but they don’t seem to have the same financial problems as we do. Is it because of Perez money or something else?

Their debt is way higher than ours, I think 1.5 if not 2x, but when they find themselves in a pickle, Spain just offers them some skyscrappers and lands to sell and make back half a billion $ so they don't have to worry, at all.

Board will probably lock the new deals from shirt sponsorship and Nike (maybe stadium too), so we are in solid position. But what irks me is the fact that Nike made longtime deal with LBJ today, reportedly biggest in their history, yet we get 30 something mil a year. Adidas pays UTD and Bayern crazy money, Real too and they will get new contract and Nike cannot pay us more and we are their only big team they got, Adidas took everyone else.

Should make deal with Under Armor or someone willing to pay 70-100m a year and get it done with.

Nike is crazy if they don't cough up more to keep Messi, Neymar and co. wear their shirt.
Nike is cheap if it is not about American stars. They lost Manchester United, they lost Juventus and they lost Arsenal. That many big clubs lost in short span says to me they don't value football teams enough. I'm sure there are companies willing to shell out Manchester like deals for us, especially with rising star like Neymar.

We're the only big team that still wears Nike. Well I'm not an investor, but if they lose us, they kind of back the hell out of football and I cannot understand why because football is getting more and more popular with more and more revenues. Plus, we have the biggest stars and I heard Neymar is going to be the face of Nike in football in 2016, adding our recent success to that and I guess we are in a great position to negotiate our shirt deal. I do not expect anything less than the biggest shirt sponsorship deal on the market right now out of them. But then again, I'm just superficially speculating.

Our board doesn't seem able to close jack shit, we're getting bullied by both Nike and Qatar, while we're the best football team on the planet both in results, and star players.

How are we not?

How is it that every other top team announced massive shirts & equipment deals in the last couple years, while we're about to loose Qatar, Nike shoved the horizontal stripes on us, and we're still paid peanuts when we're their only top team ?

Money should be raining down on us, and it's not, so something's not right.
