Luis Suárez

How about Malcom, he can make direct runs, is fast, can keep the ball moving despite playing uptop, has a good shot, good finishing. Height won't be an issue because Suarez wasn't any good at set pieces either.

I expect us to see us play atleast once, with Malcom something like Aguero...

Dembele (LW) Malcom (CF) Messi (RW)

And see how that turns out...

It's a decent idea but don't expect anything from Valverde. Total coward.

I think Messi would need to be the CF (false 9) in that set up. Would be nice to see though.

In any case, I agree with what someone said above. No real replacements were available in the market this year. The only players who would be obvious improvements would be Mbappe (who would be perfect) Firmino, Aguero but they were not available.

And I don’t think the likes of Icardi, Werner - even Kane would have been worth anywhere near the money it would have taken to get them. Even Firmino wouldn’t be a sure bet.

I think revisiting the market next year was always best. The same players might still be unavailable, but there might be new options on the market.

I personally think Madrid stayed out of the market for the same reasons.

Messi seems to lack getting himself into penalty area when needed as well. I don't know its due to their age that they can't do that the whole time or it's EV tactics.
It's a big problem for us because Rakitic rarely do that under EV, don't mind Busquets lol so there's only Coutinho would position himself in right place. And that's why we seem to be less threatening in times
as players don't make themselves available to receive the ball in penalty area.

It's more of tactics. Messi doesnt have the tenacity to play as RW, to get past fullbacks or make runs into the box.

Instead, Suarez gets the luxury to be in the middle in the box, but rarely ever puts a good foot forward which results in very weak links between the front 3. These puts alot pressure on the midfield to try to find other options and cover up the void in front.

Worst of all, Dembele and Coutinho are on the same side while Messi only has Rakitic. Just very much unbalanced. I heard at one point Messi instructed Dembele to go on the right? Just very poor tactics in a nutshell.

 cherry picking at its best. A single highlighted run not made doesn't mean his positioning hs all of a sudden become weak. Suarez missing tons of sitters is a direct result of him making runs.

I thought Dembele was previously "analysed" for not making certain runs or make specific decisions? But I think what they meant is him positioning himself better in the box or more centrally since he is now an in-and-out central striker. He isnt a RF anymore.

New drinking game:

Take a shot everytime Suarez makes a failed dummy.

I'd get drunk before half time..

I think the whole end product argument, still being one of the best in the world is crap, what's the use of that if he will rarely get into the position to deliver that "end product", his placement is also lacking, his runs are idiotic and slow and he will literally ruin 9 out of 10 balls coming his way when in/close to the opponent's area.

It's just a very frustrating thing to watch and he is the only one to blame for this and he should get some well deserved booing on Camp Nou. Takes everything for granted, makes minimal impact and is by far the broken wheel of our attack. That is painfully obvious and no numbers, stats or "end product" will fix that, only a fundamental change in mentality..and he is nowhere near that atm.

#benchSuarez

PS. His "end product" so far has been amazing...if even a "still a long way to go" Dembele puts him to shame in terms of finishing..

Aye. With tons of examples. It's not the point. The point is that he's cheaply alluding Suarez' positioning has all of a sudden become a weakness. Basing it on a single highlighted run not made.
