2 Forwards pressing and "helping out in defence" has nothing to do with conceeding 8 goals. These 4 (and Mats) committed atrocities against Bayern.

Not really. Many of those chances came because 1) our forwards stood in offside while the Bayern players hounded our defenders while those were playing from the back and 2) Bayern could start to construct their attacks without any resistance at all. They started their attacks at the center of the pitch while bypassing Suarez and Messi with simple passes or progressing with the ball, whereas we could not make it out of our own half while the Bayern attackers and midfiedlers were pressing us. Defending is less about individual quality as it is more about defending the right spaces, with right numbers.

Exactly. If one compartment doesn't do its job, other compartments are overrun as a result, and collapse under pressure.

Timeline:

1st Bayern goal: Busquets makes a wrong 2m!!! pass in midfield, Bayern counter from the center line with numbers. Nothing to do with our front 2 pressing or helping out - or was it front 3, no one knows.

1st Barca goal: Bypassing the high line with Alba and score - own goal got it!

Then barca get's 2 chances. Suarez one on one that Neuer saves and Messi solo slalom that Neuer saves again.

2nd Bayern goal: Bob and Semedo (while we have many people at the back) decide they need to give the ball away for no reason outside our penalty box and Bayern score again.

That's two goals out of individual mistakes - out of thin air literally.
Then, We had one more good chance with Messi hitting the bar, while 3 of our guys were bird-watching.

Our attackers did pretty good till now, had 2 good and unlucky not to score chances already.

3rd Bayern goal. We are defending with a kind of a low block. Messi is on middle right covering the LB. Suarez occupies the center of the pitch between 2 defenders.
We try to be tight between the lines. Busquets fails to close Thiago's pass to Lewandowski because he is slow AF and Lenglet get's beaten on the turn, because he is slow AF, for the goal.

Our two forwards have nothing to do with this goal again. And we are in 3-1 down by minute 30.

4th Bayern goal. Semedo tries to be sneaky and get's dispossessed near our penalty box. FYI, he has the full defense and midfield line close to him (bob is covering the LB). Bayern steal the ball and score.

Again, nothing to do with our forwards, just Semedo having a nightmare night.

And that is 4-1 before half time and match over.
What exactly would a front 2 consisting of 2 pressing machines would change? Nothing. Our front 2 are not young or so pacy but the 4 goals have nothing to do with them. Get over it or prove the above wrong.

The way people are talking here about some of the greatest players in our history(Messi,Suarez,Busquets etc.) it's very inappropiate.I get it we need young bood,but what other alternatives that we can get are out there?Lautaro Martinez?Haaland?Haaland it's not a Barcelona type player and frankly his technigue is very bad,very bad.And there is a dearth of quality midfielders currently.Verrati,De Bruyne are indeed Barca quality,but they are untouchable.Many of you think t6his is Fifa,just get the hottest flavour of the month and that's it.Anyway,we'll see how Barca will be without Messi especially.Who''l replace his goals?Griezmann?Lol.Ansu Fati?Too young and frankly he doesn t impress me at all.Maybe i'm too old,but i've seen a lot of teenage prospects 100 more talented than Fati.So practically,we'll remain with the same abysmal defence,but without the genius of Messi and instincts ofSuarez.Next season will be fun.

Can you imagine we tried to push Eto'o out while he was top of his game. Now compare that to Suarez situation. Club owes nothing to him and he should be grateful he was kept for so long.
