Witsel and Paredes ring a bell for anybody?

If he performs in Russia, he'll get a move to one of the top leagues pretty soon. Or what, players from Ukraine and Russia have never moved to the likes of Dortmund, City, Bayern or what? He's only 22 and imo it's a perfect move for him as he'll have ample time to develop while not being under the pressures at bigger clubs. The fact that he'll bag 6m net a year is a bonus as I doubt any other club would have given him more than 3-4m a year.

Witsel went from Zenit to China.

My bad. My point is still valid though as he went to Russia and then China yet he still ended up back at a top club from Europe. Going to Russia isn't the end of the world. Has plenty of time to play in a major club from a top league, especially since he is only 22.

Yeah but even now he is too good for Russia, could easily play for teams like Arsenal, Dortmund etc.

Sporting wise it's kind of a strange choice (assuming he really had offers from Everton, Dortmund etc) for sure but he wouldn't be the first player to value double the salary more than playing in a better league and he certainly won't be the last.

Moises Llorens says that along with the Fee (40+5) we managed to get a Sell on fee as well.

Now that is a good deal.

EPL players are massively overrated on this site and generally. It looks like very few people are able to not be swayed by EPL marketing and PR

Yeah all those EPL players that filled half of the quarter finals of the CL really suck. Particularly the Liverpool, City, and Spurs players--massively overrated.

If anything on this site EPL is massively underrated. It may or may not be better than La Liga, but it sure is a hell of a brutal league to try to shine in.

No I don't think he could. Sorry he doesn't have near the pedigree of PEA, Lacazette or Pepe. Pepe, also a like winger like him, has scored nearly as much (23 goals) in 1 year in France than Malcom did in his 3 years in Europe (27), including 2 in France. He also does not compare in pedigree or talent as Reus or Sancho or Brandt, and Dortmund for their stature pays pretty low--Malcom's last year salary would be 3rd on that club.

Glad we got our $ back and didn't have to do a loan with an uncertain eventual return and tied up $ spend from last year. Hope he does well but he never looked like Barca squad material to me. I think he would have been better off back to Ligue 1 or Serie A, or maybe even one of the Portugal powers (good climate, and the language), but maybe at his wage there just wasn't takers. He was on a very high wage relative to what he ever has achieved. Zenit does have a lot of financial muscle for a club out of the big 4 leagues (really PSG is the only club out of the 5th ranked league that has more such financial muscle than they do).

Ironically you actually prove my point. The EPL is massively overrated such that people think 1 good year in the champions league completely invalidates 10 previous years of abject failure. This is the kind of subconscious effect EPL PR and marketing has on people. They prove its overrated even when trying to prove the exact opposite. Brilliant !

Stop trolling! La Liga has the best teams but Premier League was also very strong in the previous years.

EPL has more and more money.
And in the end, money usually wins, unless if the guy with money is really dumb.

Barca and Real didn't turn into greatest clubs in the world because we are good guys but because we had an insane amounts of money to spend.

EPL clubs have made some dumb moves, but in the last 3-4 years, they were earning more and more and their quality has raised.
When we remove Barca's glasses: Messi and CR7, money, Pep, Xavi and Iniesta were key factors of a success of La Liga in Europe in the last 10 years.
Xavi and Iniesta were lottery gems which won't happen in the next 50 years.
Messi is Messi, he will repeat never again.
Pep is in England.
CR7 is a human, but he is gone also.

What is left in La Liga for the future? Dumbele, Fatzard and Clownicius Junior.
Sounds promising...

3 of the last 4 finalists of a CL are from EPL.
Real is weaker than ever and there are no signs that they will return to top soon.
CR7 is gone. Ramos will be gone soon.
All they have is a bunch of random overhyped, insanely unproven players like Jovic, Vinicius, Rodrygo and similar.
A bunch of players for whom only a usual suspects from our forum (not you) who are hyping every single young player=can think that they actually have a bright future, lol.

Barca?
Dumbele, Malcom (luckily he has found his level in Russia), Alena, Puig, Oriol. No comments needed.
Sevilla is not as good as before.
And Simeone's era is probably coming to an end.

Luckily for us (La Liga fans): Italy is still quite poor.
France is a farmer's league without too many sponsors.
And Bundesliga is a one horse race.
If those 3 leagues weren't that limited in their own ways, there would be a danger that La Liga would drop even more.

Anyway, in a post Messi and post CR7 era, without Xavi-Iniesta lottery generation, La Liga and Spain's strength will probably fall way below a current level.

Seria A was NBA of football in 90s and early 00s. And everyone except a few rare Brasilian superstars (who are historically connected with Barca) wanted to play in Seria A.
Today they can't lure even Rakitic...

So, yes. Times are changing.
EPL is a no1 today and the most likely it will stay on top in the next 5-10 years.

Anti-everything
although i agree there has been somewhat of a power shift recently, the EPL and its players are still incredibly over hyped generally speaking.
There are also obviously players who are genuinely world class eg. KDB, salah, VVD, Silvas, augero etc
