I think it is a bad idea selling chicharito and welbz as we need goals of the bench and everybody to chip in. If you look at all the tittle winning teams they have had not only their main striker chipping in 20+ goals they have for example dzeko, Hernandez etc contributing 10+ goals when their main option isn't working and they are struggling for a breakthrough. We will only have to buy another striker in the next few years when LvG sorts this out...

James wilson. When was the last time hernandez was any good even from the bench? I think the midfield will contribute more goals than normal this year especially if Young/Valencia dont play (hopefully:rolleyes:)

With only have to play EPL and FA cup 3 strikers is more than enough imo.

Edit: So cleverley is being sold and while he is gash, that means 2 more midfielders fit for burnley and Herrera is just coming back from injury. Bit of a risky game by LVG

Wilson is good but not ready yet and when have any off our players been any good recently? Hernandez was brilliant in 12/13 and was a big part of us winning due to his ability to come on and nab a goal or two to spark the comeback as we were usually 1 or 2 down. I know we don't have as many games but if we do manage to get back to the Champions League then we will have to bring in a striker or 2 next year and none will have the same effect as chich. Everbody will get plenty of games because of injuries due to van gaals love of double sessions and just being a united player goes hand in hand with being injury prone. I think every manager Realizes you need 4 able strikers to compete on all fronts as Rodgers has said recently, City already have and Jose seems to be going down that road, it just seems like its a must these days.

Anyway regarding this weekend i think it was said today herrera won't be ready for the weekend so that leaves us with just Fletch, so i am unsure as to who will partner him, maybe pereira or powell? We need the 3 points and then it is the international break and we should have everybody bar carrick back hopefully. Things should start to pick up with every one being match fit and di maria hopefully settling in nicely.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...expensive-squad-assembled-Premier-League.html, the most expensive squad in PL history even more expensive than our squad.....just can't belive how crap Woodward and the managemnet team is for Man u.
Well the figures are highly skewed by our recent transfers.....and we also paid a lot of money for shit players during Fergie days and are struggling to offload them so that's also another factor that's influencing the calculation....Ando, Young, Jones etc. each cost us around 20 million

What is the opinion on this transfer window so farr then? Even if we werent to strenghthen further Woodward has done an excellent job i think. Taken several high earners off the wage bill, is in the process of clearing out some deadwood/fringe players and has improved several positions and broken our transfer record. Cant expect the team to be where we want it to be in just the one window, compared to last year the difference is galaxies apart.

His record as a winger is poor compared to the last season but he has all the attributes required to be a top winger unlike Mata and kagawa

His record is the same, as a winger and as a CM. The only difference is that people began to see his brilliance as he was moved from that dreaded right wing which is supremely unbalanced with the inclusion of Ronaldo on the other side and the fact that the technically poor Khedira removed from the team altogether.

Place Di Maria in a formation that is not lop sided and when the defensive duties do not drown him, his brilliance will come through in offense. When Bale played on that right position, he was pants, utter pants. No one, besides him, and perhaps Ribery, can do the defensive and offensive work that Di Maria. Isco did a better job for us defensively when he "sacrificed" himself for the team than Bale in the Champions League but he disappeared up front more or less.

For Real Madrid, I am glad an energetic Kroos in midfield who is more mobile than Xabi and more technically gifted than Khedira came because it softens the Di Maria departure as he balances the team. Di Maria balanced the team with his "omnipresence". If we had kept Khedira (technically poor), and Xabi (not mobile enough) and let Modric do all the work, we would have been destroyed without Di Maria.

Manchester United moves in lines, and more uniform so it helps Di Maria shine. Provided they know learn how to pass the ball and defend, lol. At Real Madrid Di Maria was himself running between the lines, carrying the ball up front and running back off it.

Are you though? A little bit stronger in forward areas, a little bit stronger in the middle, and noticeably weaker at the back.

Yeh i kind of came off as happy with the state of the squad in that post, it does still need several good reinforcements added i agree i just meant in the context of this window compared to last hes done excellent. It is still quite a transition with a few more, maybe a lot more windows to go shouldnt be under any illusions. Cant forget we missed every single target last summer and signed an overpriced Fellaini (lets be fair even at his £23 million release clause) disaster at the best of times.

Have you watched United or United's reserves recently?

Wilson is absolutely ripping it up in the u21's. He's just too good for that level, and looked more than ready for first team action towards the end of last season with his brace in his debut. Hernandez on the other and is just terrible these days. He contributes absolutely nothing to the team, and although he was always lacking in certain areas, his eye for goal used to mean we could ignore his other faults as a player. These days though he doesn't even have that, and it seems like he couldn't hit a barn door from five yards.

I'd be absolutely delighted if (as is looking likely) we get rid of Hernandez and have Wilson come in as our 4th striker....and I mean absolutely delighted. He's ready for his chance, and needs game time at this level because as I mentioned playing for the u21's is doing nothing for him anymore, he's just too good for that level. His four goals in our 4-0 win against City recently were just ridiculously good, and all too easy for him. Really not sure how anybody who has watched him could say he isn't ready.

I suspected something like that....Di Maria is now going to the exact opposite scenario because our midfielders are programmed to pass the ball to the Right wing...

I have watched him a lot but i just have a different opinion to you that it would be counterproductive for him to possibly sit on the bench/reserves all season when he could be out on loan to a low level PL team like we usually do which would be alot better for his development. It is also only u21's aswell which you know is a whole different kettle of fish, countless players have looked too good for that level and not been able to make the step up. I would just rather keep welbz and hernandez and when the team starts player better, more fluidly and creating more chances im sure everybody will regain their confidence and return to their form they are capable off.
