Denis Suarez who is a midfielder will cost us 3,5M.. Then we have like 60M left for back up striker and CB.. I think we should spend big on defence this summer.. No need to spend big on back up striker.. Nolito would be fine for 18M.. Marquinhos 40M, Nolito 18M and Denis Suarez 3,5M..

I meant a big-star Cm signing like Pogba/Verratti/Gundogan.
Not a (probable) squad player D. Suarez.

Look at history. How many world class wingers are 33 or 34?

Nolito doesn't need to be worldclass, he just has to peform well when needed. And I think he can do that for at least 2-3 years. Remember that IF we buy him he'd be backup to our youngest starter (excluding Ter Stegen if he becomes our #1 GK) right now. In 2-3 years when Nolito will be "too old" Neymar will only come to his peak at 26-27 (IF we don't sell him but that's another story). For that I have absolutely no problem with Nolito's age if Lucho really wants him. We'd also have some flexibility with his signing and could play 4-2-3-1 with Nolito-Ney-Messi behind Suarez in some games with Busq-Raki as DMs.

Only problem is that Nolito can probably only replace Neymar without changing some of dynamics from our front 3 that worked so well over the last two seasons. Let's say that Suarez is unavailable for a longer period. Would we play Neymar as CF with Nolito and Messi on the wings? It certainly sounds better than relying on Munir like we did this season but can Ney really play that position effective against a great defense like Atletico? Maybe he can but we don't know and probably won't know until we try that. Messi as false 9 is another option but I just don't see him moving back to that position and I also don't think he can be as efficient in goalscoring role as he has been before Suarez's arrival.

That's why I said over the last months that I prefer a true CF like Gameiro to have a good backup for Suarez and we could go around this season with Arda, Rafinha and Denis playing on the wings when neccessary. But of course anyone has his price and I wouldn't pay more than 20M for Gameiro.

If there is really a possibility to get Vietto for around 20-25M I'd prefer him over both Gameiro and Nolito but I just don't see this happen. If Atletico decides to sell him it would be most likely to a club like Celta, Villarreal or Valencia for around 10M with buy back clause.

But which 33 year old winger is good enough really? Whats the risk of him not being good enough in a year or two? 80%? He relies on attributes that will deteriorate with age. Its a very high risk strategy IMO. I would much rather buy someone younger with real value who can play on many positions so he can get playing time.

Don't expect any star signing this summer.. Umiti,Suarez and Nolito should be it..

And I'm very happy with those three, who will seriously strengthen the depth of our squad in all three departments, as well as hopefully clearing bout all the deadwood left eg.Adriano, Douglas, Verm

Don't get me wrong, I would also be happy if these 3 come to Barca.. I totally agree with you..

Not sure why people rate Vietto so highly...I mean good player but so grossly overrated. He was decent for VR, had a good first half season then meh second half and was very bad for AM when he got playing time. I don't see it.

I just like him and think he has potential to become really good. He'd fit here much better than in AM but of course he wouldn't get much more minutes than there so it's questionable how he'd develop. Still, if we could get him for around 20M I'd buy him. We won't though as Lucho clearly prefers Nolito and Gameiro and as I said I don't believe Atletico is willing to fully give up on Vietto.

He's 29 and had reached his maximum. He didn't get into first team few years ago when we had players like Pedro, Tello and Cuenca above him then. No for Nolito in Barcelona. Waste of money.

Besides that he was teribble against Georgia. Team that is playing like 75% of our opponents. He needs space and Celta is his top.

you can't base things in one game when he has played well in other friendlies.

He had a good season with Celta when healthy.

It was just an example. He's invisible and terrible every time when he's facing bus type defense.

And like I said. Celta is his maximum. Barcelona is too high level for him.

we won't get a player of the quality that he has for 18 million. That's the issue.

So getting him for that amount will be a good bit of business compared to what our other forward targets would cost.
