Masch is not better than Bartra in air but Pique is.

That bolded part sums it up, really. Pique is by far the best player we have in the air, with Bartra being the only other player we have that can even be considered an aerial threat.

Bartra throws his head in there more than a lot of other players but that's more down to attitude than ability.

The total number of duels won should also be a factor though IMO. As an extreme example, Masch gets 100% duels won if he wins 1 out of 1. Considering he also played as a DM in several of these games in the CL its difficult to compare.

Even if we disagree, I think we can both agree that Bartra is great in the air, and that he is capable of becoming a legend for us.

Attitude and bravery in the air is so important.

Hell, look at a guy like Zlatan. He sucked in the air even though he is extremely tall compared to guys like Fabio Cannavaro and Puyol.

I am not like you and talk about absolutes that one player is shit and another is borderline world class.

My argument has been all along there is not much in it between who should start Mathieu/Bartra and have said very little negative about Bartra other than I think he lacks some physicality.

Never have I ever said anything that could even be remotely interpreted as suggesting Bartra is borderline world class or even can be.

He's one of the better young Spanish centerbacks. Scratch that, he's the best Spanish centerback in his age category.

The other upcoming talents are far too young (Tarin, for example).

Spain has plenty of other CBs. Albiol gets called up because of the Barca/Madrid bias.
