This.
It will be funny to see your reactions when Bartra will play against the likes of Gareth Bale, CR7 and Di Maria .

+1

He'll be overrun and outstripped like Montoya was last year against R$al Madrid when Cristiano owned him...

What is "funny" about giving a Barcelona youth product a chance and hoping he comes good? If Busquets wasn't trusted in 08/09, and wasn't thrown in the deep end against United for fear of him being "destroyed" by United and we sold him to Zaragoza he probably wouldn't be the best DM in the world he is today.

Some of you are so obsessed with saying "I told you so", so much so that you're hoping a youth player from your own team performs bad against your biggest rivals.

One of the biggest satisfactions from supporting a team is seeing a kid rise from the youth teams to become a powerhouse, consequently saving the club from spending 40 million on a fancy dan name. Whether or not this happens with Bartra, fact remains, some of you guys are embarrassing.

This. Here's a really good article on all the criticism directed to players these days:
http://espnfc.com/blog/_/name/espnfcunited/id/9853?cc=5901

It's ridiculous to expect every player be 9/10 or 10/10 quality players game in game out... As Rory Smith says in the article:
"That breeds dissatisfaction. It breeds contempt. It turns decent and good into insults; it highlights everything that is wrong and casts a shadow over all that is right. It makes Kolarov, and all the others, criticised for what they cannot do, rather than celebrated for what they can. And it robs a little of the innocence of the game, makes it less of a sport and more of a demand for entertainment. It is an expression of a desire to see machines, not people. Part of the joy of sport is seeing your fellow man exceed his limits. It removes all of that. It costs football its humanity. "

Bartra is a very good defender. Mascherano and Pique are an elite world class centerback pairing. I suspect when people imply differently it's because they're comparing Pique and Mascherano to Bekenbaeur and Maldini, or Kompany and Silva...as those these brilliant players are the yardsticks we should hold every player up against.

Montoya did no worse of a job against Ronaldo than Alves did (he actually probably performed better). What makes you so confident that Bartra can't play well against Madrid?

Nice share sumo, I concur with the theme of that article...In particular, wrt Barcelona, I see a departure from the focus on the cantera - under Rosell, no less...The cantera is what ushered in this era of Barcelona footballing dominance

Once again, BEAST! Masch injury was a blessing in disguise, now Bartra + Masch when he gets back and soon our captain is back!

Bartra keeps improving, he is racking up the expirience and looks better and better, he will have a long future with Barcelona if he keeps it up, IMO he should start above Masherano.
I say start him against RM.
Tata i thik has given a real good look at the cantera and likes what he sees.

MOTM for me. Super composed and really reminded me of an exact carbon copy of Pique from the 09-10 season (the season where he skinned CR alive in every clasico and never lost out on a tackle).

I still have to wait and see how he'll do against the world class teams to see if he can seriously be a world class CB.

Why start Bartra over Masch when we can start Bartra + Masch instead of Pique?

Awesome game from Bartra yet again. He plays with such confidence and intelligence about him, I love it. Yes I am looking forward to the Bartra + Masch partnership.

With Bartra breaking out and Puyol coming back, looks like we could be set at CB for the time being after all.
Still think we should get another one, Puyol isn't getting any younger and we are still short in the air, but until then I'm feeling better now with Bartra playing this well.

We need hight, i like Mash but he loses way to many times in the air and set plays and that is where Barca has it's worst problems.

Hight schmight, when was the last time you saw Pique defend set pieces any good despite of his height? I'll tell you, it was like 2 seasons ago.

I won't go as far as to see no faults in his game. His positional sense is a bit shaky, but as as a fan I must admit that I really love the hunger this guy exhibits. I hope he continues to play with the same passion.
