Not sure what game some people were watching but other defenders playing poor (which overall, they all did well- including Adriano except for being beat for the header on the goal) doesn't really have anything to do with Bartra's performance.

Bartra was fantastic- plain and simple. This is coming from someone who absolutely did not believe in him in the recent past. He's impressed me, especially last game. He showed pace that I never knew he had; possibly because he's never really used it before. He played with confidence, chased down attackers on a few occasions and read the game tackling/intercepting a few balls using his pace. I enjoyed that greatly because that's exactly what we need. He's skinny but 6'0 and only 22, if he's naturally strong/tough he could be what we need.

I wont get too excited but I hope we continue to play him, and a lot. If he continues to show quality and improves, we might not need to buy a CB in the end.

I am really happy that Bartra is doing well, 4 consecutive games (vs Sociedad, Almeria, Celtic and Valladolid).
But, what I don't understand is people making silly comments about Pique (He had very good games against Celtic and Valladolid).

No matter how good he turns out to be, we're still gonna need to get a CB.

Yeah, Puyol will retire soon and Machete, as much as I love him, is not a proper CB. Tata with his South American connections should be able to get us a hidden gem of a CB, we don't need someone famous.

With Bartra up to the task, Piqué slowly improving and Mache & Puyol soon back in action, we don't really need a cb this winter. Of course we still need one this summer, but the need is not urgent anymore

Mascherano is not a CB and Puyol is 35. Not that we need to replace them both at this very moment, but we should be looking for at least one, ideally two CBs.

Mascherano is a CB.

totally agree. well said. its even disrespectful. Masche has been brilliant for us so far this season, one of our top 3 players. by the logic of people in here, puyol wouldnt be a CB either, just a converted RB.
