Marc Bartra

His positional awareness needs some work and his strength is still suspect, however Bartra has been very impressive these few games he's started. A very welcomed and pleasant surprise.

Our best defender, which sadly says more about how shit our defenders are than how good Bartra is.

He was telling Pique what to do during that game, that's great. Hopefully he gets to play some games with Puyol, that would be great for his development.

That's the problem with Pique, he ain't a leader. He needs someone to direct him. It's hard for Pique to understand Argentine Spanish from Masche so it makes sense he is getting bossed by Bartra.

I just don't get this obsession with putting someone down i order to praise others. Simple as that.

About me being Mr. Negative, in regards to our team, you couldn't be more wrong. In regards to stupidity on this board, and my intolerance towards said stupidity, you're probably right. I suppose, as a teacher, it can be attributed to a work related injury.

Edit: ach, that was supposed to be a reply to TwizXZx.

Martino: "Bartra is doing well, no January signing? Won't discuss the transfer martket now. Bartra plays solid games, shows personality."

I agree with you. I'm always crying for rationalism and asking people to be reasonable, yet people continue to knee-jerk and exaggerate.

I'll also add this, and I've said it before. People should temper the expectations and effusive praising of Bartra. It has been 3-4 games only vs weak opposition. Bartra has played very good, but he is not flawless and he will get exposed eventually. It is part of the growing progress. All this premature praising and apotheosis does him no favors. It does no one any favors.

Pique too got elevated to heights undeserved, now that he is in poor form, people are holding him to a false standard he never actually achieved.

I wholeheartedly agree. Sadly rationalism isn't really in these days.

Dat run and shot in the first half. I'm so glad he's playing awesome, it means I wasn't wrong in sticking up for him.

If only that shot had gone in!

All Bartra needs to do right now is keep this up (and be given chances, of course) and score a few headers - then he's all set.
