Marc Bartra

I thought he did well enough apart from in front of goal.

Good passing and made some good decisions. When you look at the four goals he can only be blamed for the final goal, but he was alone on a two on one as Alves was off the pitch IIRC.

He will only get better from here. Good to see the management counting on him for the biggest game of the season.

No. No. And no.

Management did it all wrong, and they've got a whole lot wrong this season. They've kept him on the bench almost the entire God damn season and now, under desperation, they start playing him? No, that's not how you nurture talent. You sit down with your staff and you ask yourselves "do we think this kid has what it takes" and you make a decision. That is what Pep did with Pedro, Busquets and many others. Bartra isn't in his teens, he's old enough to be in the team. We've been ahead what, 11-13 points the entire season- why hasn't he been played more? We had many chances to play him and properly develop him throughout the season but we didn't. Then we play him two games in the league and then in the champions league final because we HAVE to? Nah, that's bullshit coaching.

Edit: I'm not saying Bartra was bad either, he was probably better than Pique yesterday. I'm just furious with the coaching/management the past season or two.

After feeling bad for myself after yesterdays humbling and watching the game back (Although it was only highlights), I felt sorry for him and Pique yesterday. All the onus to win the aerial duels was on these two. And time after time they were left exposed and left man-for-man to Bayern's quick counter-attacks.

They were badly let down by the rest of the team and you could actually see Pique getting frustrated with them.

However, Dani Alves and Jordi Alba are not proper defenders and the sight of them defending corners against an imposing and aggressive Bayern team, was like men against boys.

Yes, and a lot of it has to do with Busquets pushing too far up this season and being to slow to track back in time. Pique himself has been off though, yet I'm sure it's hard to defend when you are partnered with a different CB every single game.

Are you kidding me ?? Did you even watch Barca this season at all ? He appeared in total of 14 matches in all competitions this season and most of those were in 70-80 mins as sub. Defending needs experience which requires more minutes. He was one of our top 3 players yesterday and way better than Pique (including aerial battles). He showed his heart.

Same thing is happening with Montoya, he needs experience and still alves gets the start every match while adding zero to our defense. When other are injured, management throws them against big teams.

Pique and Pedro on the other hand are different cases. They should be benched for the rest of the seasons.

Exactly! Bartra is class but just needs more time and faith from management. Tito doesn't want to take any risks and frankly I don't think he can have our team playing like a world class engine like Pep. For those of you now turning on our Masia youth maybe you should think back to the CL match against Borisov where Barcelona B destroyed them 4-0. Sure Borisov are no stellar team, but they are a senior side with CL experience and were utterly dominated by Masia youth. Even with an all youth lineup there was absolutely no change in the system or philosophy...that's the kind of faith and inspiration Pep braught to our team. We need a leader like that to get our team to enforce our style of play again.

Completely agree with Cooter. Bartra has been sat on the bench all season whilst Masch/Song/Adriano have all started ahead of him. He should have been given much more gametime against the lower La Liga teams which would have enabled him to learn and grow in confidence.
Throwing him in at the deep end with so little playing time this year is unfair to both the team and him.

Filling the first team squad with youth players is a false economy if you are not prepared to play them. You don't really have a squad of 25, more like 17-18.

I hope he was just rested because today's match showed he's our best available CB atm. We started the season with forcing DM's into central defense and now we're continuing with full backs.

He's getting destroyed today. He really needs to stop going to ground to try and block passes or just stopping dead in his tracks and taking players out. If you can't hang with the pace you've gotta give yourself a couple yards of a head start instead of leaving the area behind you wide open while you lay on the ground watching them.

He follows the ball about the park like a dog, is skinned when he dives in for it and leaves the defence wide open!

Pedro not far behind mind. The standard of wide players and defenders at Barcelona is a joke.

I think pedro is doing well to help break up play and whatnot as a winger but not only should he not have to constantly but our attack is pretty much toothless right now. Almost nothing going forward, Dani needs to stop putting those balls in because not only are they not accurate but there isnt anyone there most of the time.

Sorry but I dont care how good he is defensively, if he cant dribble or pass it is not good enough.

No doubt. He so far could be the difference between being 1 or 2 down compared to a 0-0 at halftime, though it seems like it really doesn't matter at this rate.
