Marco Verratti

Ustari

Mou, res!
That's no excuse for buying homes + Arda for a combined 80m +
If the big players are not available, sign high potential players for cheap
Asensio for 5 M
Ceballos 15 M
Dembele 15 m (before he goes to bvb)
Isco for 20 m
Tielemans for cheap
Verratti from Pescara
Debruyne from Anderlecht

I am a medical student, a football fan for 6 years, and I can figure this out.
Can't they do that while being paid millions?

Why not pull a Umtiti, Terri Mina kinda purchase?
Why can't that be our modus operandi instead of going after Paulinho for 40 M

De Bruyne never plays for Anderlecht

yeah you're doing much better than our sporting directors it seems

Verratti's agent: 'Like In Prison'"

some on here said Verratti should be respectful and negotiate his exit but i disagree. if PSG is so much of a 'prison' he needs to boycott training/pre season and force his sale.

Why would Verratti act on his own while Barca board not pushing for it? Do you think Barcelona are serious to sign Verratti? I have my doubts now. Barcelona will never pay more than 80m. Barto & the board have ties and for many years with Qatar Investment Authority, I'm sure some of the ties are personal.

I'd bet money PSG won't budge despite any "boycott", etc. Not a realistic option with those guys and was never a realistic option for us because of it.

thats the thing, i actually do doubt our board. we apperantly didn't want to offer more than 80m euros and with Lukaka seemingly going for £75mil we have no chance in todays market. ties with Qatar? would be a good idea to cut those ties with the situation and sanctions.

So how does PSG win by keeping a player that doesn't want to play for them? I am sure they will resist as long as they can, but sooner or later they must adjust to the new reality and let him go. It will cost us few more millions but the question is how badly do we want him and how far will we go?

Its all about if he comes to training or not, which he will come. Looks like Gomes and Paulinho starters for midfield are becoming more realistic

Buckle up boys, this is going to one long ass ride regardless of whether we get him or not. This is just the start, Verratti meeting with the President voicing his discontent, former teammates coming out and telling the PSG board to let him go, agent complaining to the press, Barto confirming our interest in him...

This is only just warming up.

So, we now know that the rumours are true. He wants to leave, but PSG don`t want to negotiate.

I get that they don`t want to sell their star player, but if the guy wants to leave, put a big price on him and send him on his way. He is not a slave ffs, regardless of the contract and big fat paychecks they give him.

If this evolves into a saga where he will be seen as their prisoner, I think it could hurt their image quite a lot.

To be fair, before a transfer is done, you can't know which player will turn into Umtiti and which will turn into Paco/Gomes/Denis.

On paper, when we bought players last season:
1. Denis could have turned into a next David Silva
2. Gomes could have turned into a next Zidane
3. Paco could have turned into a next Morientes

But they didn't.
This summer we can buy Seri or Keita and they can end equally as bad as Gomes, or in the bext case, average like Rakitic.
In this moment, Seri and Keita seem like no-brainers, good deals and guys who will fit.
Fast forward one year later and they can end as a new Song/Gomes.

Ok, with some players it is clear from the beginning that they will be failures (Paulinho), but with majority of other players, it is 50:50 or 33:66 for a success.

Imagine a player today with this youtube compilation and that he is available for 40-50M.
People on this board would yell: buy him, buy him, he is a no brainer, he is a perfect player for us:

Does a player from this video (back then), look much worse than Keita and Seri today?
Imo, no. It is more or less the same level of quality and skills.

I get where you're coming from, but I don't get what people saw in Gomes to begin with. I never found him doing anything special with Valencia, he was pretty much invisible and shit in the Euros (maybe not as bad as he was in Confed Cup; but the criticism is now higher since the spotlight is now on him whereas earlier nobody gave a shit).

It's actually quite scary how impotent we seem in the transfer market of late. Okay we got neymar and suarez a few seasons back, but we are struggling every year with these sagas. Marquinhos, T. Silva..Nolito, Gameiro, Vietto (which aren't even huge names)..Bellerin it seems is going down the same way..Verratti...Pogba..Gabriel Jesus..and plenty more..

You can argue nobody wants to come because of MSN, we didn't have money, etc. Whatever the reasons, the names we are chasing and the names we are ending up with - it's SCARY how bad this conversion is.

"We want Verratti and he wants to join us but PSG doesn't want to sell" Bartomeu in today's Sport edition.

https://mobile.twitter.com/albert_roge/status/883097967527436288

Shit is for real now.

IT'S OVER GUYS! :(

"Clubs want to negotiate. Look at Verratti, for instance, a player we're interested in signing, the coaches believe he is good enough to play in Barca's midfield," Bartomeu told Mundo Deportivo.

"We know that the player would love to come to Barca but when you call PSG and you talk with the president [Nasser Al-Khelaifi], he says that he's not for sale and there is no release clause.

"As such, the president can decide if he feels like negotiating with us or not. In this sense, Spanish football is defenceless. Here, there are release clauses and there, there aren't.

"And outsiders can come and pay and we can't. So for now, we've not sat down with PSG, despite the player's willingness to come to Barca. We must accept it.

"We had it before with Cesc [Fabregas], when Arsenal did not want to hold talks with us for a year. They told us by letter and we had to accept it."

"If Verratti had a clause, we could go for him. There is no formula. If you don't want to sell something..."

"The player has said that he wants to leave but PSG tell him he'll be able to go only when his contract ends."

Verratti's agent, Donato Di Campli, has described PSG's unwillingness to part with one of their top players as a matter of "pride.
