He's terrible deffender. I hope we will sell him to Juve next season.
Didn't expect to catch the game but found some channel in the end and saw large chunk of the match. Apart from the red card (which sadly led to Argentina goal) I think Caceres did very well vs. Argentina. Very composed and aggressive.
he wasn't composed though.
he was his typical self.
very committed (love his surging runs) but made some awful decisions including the tackle that earned him his first yellow. and giving the ball away cheaply to jonas, then sliding in and failing to win it back, then tripping him up and getting sent off and costing uruguay the game.
he's a pub league footballer's brain inside a world-class footballer's body.
it's tragic, but I can see why pep got rid.

I still think he'd be usefull as a fullback in our system. Abidal isn't exactly a rocket scientist after all, and Puyol's did a lot of foolish things in his early 20s too, though not to this degree.
oh I agree. you of all people know how much I called for him to be used at LB last year.
but I think there was something in training which really turned pep off him.
perhaps an inability to take instructions on-board and learn from them? after all, abidal has improved since pep took over; so maybe caceres' hard-headedness was his real downfall. after all it seems short-sighted to give up on such a physical specimen of a defender (during his medical with us the docs found NO trace of injury) at the age of 22 just because he plays like an idiot.
Caceres is a clown.
+1Big time clown...I was sooo disappointed when he was signed but then again I was hoping for Garay too sooo
Caceres has shown glimpses but largely he looks like a player who has no idea what he is doing defensively...Constantly caught out of position and having to resort to his pace to make up for it...And typically arriving late with the challenge...I think he's done as a Barca player, that's a loan that can never be long enough, IMHO...17 million for him too
Hopefully a loan spell will help Caceres mature as a player.
