I'd be pissed if Montoya leaves before Alves. Montoya is the future, Alves is barely the present.

English club Liverpool are interested in signing Barcelona right back defender Martin Montoya (22) in the summer transfer window [talksport]

What about Glen Johnson? He's an England defender. It's from talksport so it'll BS anyway. Hardly a week goes by without talksport linking one of our players with an English team. Must be one of these buzz words, that's get supporters of these teams all excited, kinda look at us "were being linked with [insert player name] from Barcelona". It's like their basking in the reflected glory of it all.

Also I'm sure I read somewhere that we've got an agreement with Ajax that involves the loaning of players between clubs. It looks like Cuenca will be there next season. If the likes of Muniesa, Roberto and Rafinha are not be involved in the first team on a regular next season, it'll be a good decision to send them to Ajax. In retrospect it might have been in the best interests of those player if they had spent this season out on loan, with the possibility of being involved with the first next season. A bit like being at Uni when you have a year out to gain the necessary work experience. Udinese do this all the time, the current Watford team contains several players from Udinese.

From people I've talked to, it's not an exciting transfer prospect for either side. Liverpool have Johnson, as well as Wisdom and Kelly (who recently signed a new contract).

As for a loan to Ajax... well I'd like to see him become first choice, Dani just doesn't do his defensive role well enough in big games when we have Alba (who adds directness we need going forward) on the other side.

Rubbish about Liverpool. We have too many fullbacks who can fill that position and while Johnson has not had the best 2013 yet, there is no need to buy someone who'll probably be quite expensive when you have younger prospects, too.

I wasn't really thinking about Montoya when I said that, it was the other players I mentioned.

Montoya is not going to leave, we don't have enough players on that position to allow that. Bartra is another case, he could use a loan as he's going to compete with 4 players for a spot next season.

As a liverpool fan on this forum I don't think we need a right back as much as I like Montoya, if Barca sold him then I would get on the next flight and batter Zubi and co to death
