You cant blame signing Cesc on Pep alone. All players and the board were equally responsible
I bet if Pep was in charge he would have found a way to keep both Thiago and Cesc happy. Again if Tito was even remotely competent we wouldnt be in this situation in the first place

You are giving Pep to much credit, I think he would have the same problem as Tito does now which is a ambitious young player who thinks he should play more. Pep has struggled with players before like Yaya Toure, who he didn't play as much as Yaya wanted so he left for England.

Lets see how he keeps the Bayern players happy this year, I think there could be trouble ahead for Pep

Yeah by playing Cesc out of position all year long.

At least Tito moved him back to the midfield until we were forced to play him as a False 9 when Messi got injured.

It's management's fault for not letting Tito know about the stipulation in Thiago's contact that was signed when Pep was still in charge. He was very ill last season, so the blame falls on management for that. Thiago didn't really catch his form until the end of the year though. He was losing a lot of balls out there early on.

Alves never got owned in any example you gave unless you think getting beat in the air by a CB and a six feet plus forward player.

You totally got it wrong about him not tracking back or caring and just made that up completely.

No person has ever been this wrong in the history of the universe. :worthy:

Of course he is.

He gave performances in the games against PSG and AC Milan that only he could give. He utterly dominated the right hand area if the pitch virtually single handed. He was phenomenal in those game. At his very best.
So you would just remove Alves because of his age and Alba getting better with Neymar + of the balance in defense. If it was about anything else you would remove Alba?

If it were guaranteed that Alves was in his best form most of the season (90, 95%) then sure, I would take him over Alba in a heartbeat. Last season though, he was not giving as much effort as he should have, sending crosses to the moon, not getting back in position often enough... He did have good performances, sure, but they were as rare as the amount of times his crosses actually found somebody's head. Alba, on the other hand, was consistently excelling, rarely slipping up and giving his full effort out there. He ran out of gas by the end of the season, but he was certainly the better and more consistent performer throughout.

This idea that Alves was not giving his all is just a joke.

What games was he not trying in?

It's not that he was not trying specifically in any one game, it's just that I don't remember seeing him sprint back as fast as he could to get back on defense, unlike Alba, who I can remember doing that many times. And even if he did give his 100% all the time, I still think Alba was the more consistent performer and better over the course of the entire season.

Alves did that all the time if he wasnt he would have been dropped. There was nothing wrong with his effort at all.

The only game Madrid did not look good offensively against Barca was when Alves started and Alba was on the bench. That was a much more balanced defence than when they played with Alba and not Alves.

Alba has got nothing but the pace. Alves has got pace, vision, great through balls, long balls, long shots and his legendary crosses :neymar:
