Martin Montoya

Jeffren was injury prone, Victor Sanchez, Krkic & Fontas were simply not good enough

Gai Assulin?...Only his agent thought he was something special

All the players that have been promoted from the youth team in the last 5 years are all players that got their chance from Pep, period...No one else gave them a shot...As I said, were you or anyone to ask any youth player who is responsible for the re-emphasis of the cantera and who gave them the belief that they could get a 1st team shot the answer would unquestionably come back to Guardiola

Thiago left after Tito regressed his playing time...Same things happened with Tello, Bartra & Montoya who all were linked away from the club

Thiago, Tello, Montoya are simply not good enough, so they can leave as well. Bartra was good enough to make it. End of story.

can't agree with this statement especially about Montoya and Thiago. The Montoya thing is not signing him in January but sorting out a pre-contract in the summer, in my book even as a liverpool fan Barca should keep him.

I'd keep him as well, because we need RB. What I mean is the club won't be upset if he decides to leave. Considering how many next "big things" left the team.

it's not encouraging for youngsters coming through that the club doesn't seem to worry that vultures are circling around, the club needs to protect ALL assets, first team or not

Good enough for Pep but not good enough for you, yeah I think most rational people would not concur with your assessment...Same Bartra that Tito ignored is now good enough, funny how that works out

Pep isn't coaching this club anymore and won't be again for at least until 2022 (I foresee Rosell getting reelected quite easily in 2016). Better get used to it.

In fact the club has promoted and offered contracts to many young players. They didn't openly ditch any youngster and they cant beg anyone to keep. Hell for the case of Sanabria even Tata went to talk to him, we can't expect to Rosell go and please Sanabria. The fate of the first team players is mainly in the hands of the coach, who's given full responsibility over the players. If the youngster is mishandled then it will be coach to be blamed.

So are you crying here that we must fire Tito Vilanova? Or wait...

Simply intervening when bandwagoners attempt to revise history

For those who've been around for more than a few minutes would appreciate the difference in emphasis by different boards with the club...Laporta didn't need to cajole Thiago anymore than Pep or Txiki did - the youth players understood (As evidenced by their quotes in the press over the years) that under Pep, the cantera players were valued

My guess is that if you were to poll those in the cantera now, there is a decidedly different air about things at the club - not just the evidence which shows more exiting and less involved with the 1st team

Lot of cantera left during Pep era, the likes of Bojan criticized him for mishandling prospects. Numerous of players left before reaching first team, because they didn't believe in their prospect of having chance under Pep. Because other than Busquets all cantera didn't make it under Pep.

Ignorance is no way to go through life...Bojan's failures are down to the player, a player that refused to go to the B team under Pep before he was even coached by him with the first team...The same Bojan who has yet to hold down a first team position anywhere since

No player Pep promoted or gave chances to left disgruntled - the only players to leave during his watch were Nolito & Soriano and both were down to simply not having a place in an already deep squad...Otherwise, Thiago, Pedro, Busquets, Jeffren, Montoya, Cuenca, Tello, Bartra, Deulofeu & Roberto would all count themselves as Pep disciples

The temporary re-emphasis on the cantera is down to one man, Guardiola

I agree.

And Montoya, well imo let's give this guy an honest chance to prove himself - he has tomorrow and soon the CDR starts, just let him play at least as many CDR games as possible. It's not like we can sell him now because it usually takes us 2-3 years to sign defenders

BUT, if he doesn't really improve - and I mean a lot - then we need to look for a new world class RB and Montoya would be our backup, a role I'm not sure he would accept (and I'm also still not sure if he is good enough). On LB we have 2 world class players that are both younger than Alves, we need our RB position to be as good (not to mention our CB's).

He's a very good backup player and still has potential. What is wrong with some of you people on this forum? Writing of youngsters and Academy graduates with no good reason.

Thiago and Montoya are plenty good. Thiago probably would have stayed if Tata were appointed earlier. And Montoya will get plenty of game time.
