But some people talk about Pogba fetching an 80m to 100m pricetag? Isn't that overrating him? While he is very good, I get the sense that people seem to have convinced themselves that he is excellent. As for Gundogan, it matters not one iota how good he was before his serious injury. What matters is how good/bad he has been since that.

As for Verratti, who is also definitely very good, I have seen lots of people on here claiming that he is some kind of Xavi and Mascherano all rolled into one. Well, I have to see that before I believe any of it.

Yes that's what I mean, he is unequal to his hype. Very good young midfielder, but very much overhyped still.

I agree about Gundogan, just saying when he was healthy and playing at his best, he was underrated.

Only IMO Verratti is worth the hype. He is bar non the best young center-midfielder in the world.

Btw I like what I've seen from Kovacic in this Inter-Juve game. He is playing some excellent midfield. Composure and very good accurate forward passes.

He's looking like Luka Modric in this game.

Yes, very smart, very good passes.

Just try to imagine him in some "more intelligent" team which can "follow" his passes.
These Inter guys are just horrible.

He is way too good for them.

Some excellent passes and moves in the 2nd half from him.

We should just buy Omar and give him the chance to shine instead instead of the ridiculous prices mentioned around. He'd cost as much as Halilovic lol.

Who is Allan by the way? Do we have a thread on him? Scout Nation videos?
Or we could give that chance to Samper instead of buying i dont kno who people are suggesting, probably one seaseon wonders

Judging from the reports whenever Barca are mentioned in transfer rumours, the seem to be quite off. But if Pogba is valued at 120m, it makes sense that Kovacic goes for 60m and I think we should be happier with the latter deal. Kovacic isnt CL tied. We might go for Gundogan as well, contract wise and the fact that he is not CL tied makes him interesting, as does Allan from Udinese. Lets hope Gundogan costs far less than 40m considering his contract expires in 2016 and his injury concerns.
It doesn't make any sense. Kovacic is 25 M tops with the inflated transfer fees and all that.
Atleast Gundogan had one or two world class seasons and could be on his way there

Speaking of Torres, how is he doing in Porto? But I tend to agree with @Leo Messi, if we buy a big name and a future talent maybe we should look a bit more

He is rated very highly and if you ask the average Porto fan he will tell you that he is their most consistent performer. "Unfortunately" for him he is not as hyped as other players are. He mostly has a high star in Spain and now Portugal. Outside of those two countries not many know him.

Those of us that have followed him for years (Spanish underage national teams) will tell you that he is a very special player. In that sense he reminds me of Verratti. As soon as you saw him play you knew that you were witnessing a special player. Some players just have that "aura" about them. If you have a good eye on the game of football such players are fairly easy to spot.

I never had that feeling when I was watching Kovacic although I can see glimpses of a big talent. What I also noticed is that he is very irregular and he seems to struggle mentally when under pressure. I have never seen players like Verratti and Óliver Torres do that. Almost never. They have a natural calmness about them much like Xavi without comparing a unique player and the greatest Spanish player of all time with anyone.

Of course this thread is about Kovacic but if we bought him we won't buy another midfield talent and I honestly believe that there are better options out there in terms of young talented midfielders who are yet to establish themselves fully.

So in short.

I believe that there are better options out there than Kovacic as of now but I won't complain too much should we buy him for a reasonable price as he is definitely talented and I could see him perform well for us if he gained regular playing time and thus confidence to fully exploit his talent. BUT we should not buy him alone or as our "established midfield player" because he is nowhere close to that.

That's why my ideal pick is us buying Pogba and Óliver Torres. I would have chosen Verratti but I won't mention him as he is not realistic for us unfortunately as he would be the best pick out there.

According to transfermarkt, Oliver Torres' contract runs out in Summer. That can't be right?

Both Pogba and Oliver Torres would be CL tied in January though. It is a big problem.

I think Kovacic and Allan from Udinese could be good solutions for us, if we can get them both for say 70-75m.
