My apologies if my wording was confusing. Mats had the flu during the Round of 16. If he can't play tomorrow, then they'll probably play Ginter or Mertesacker at centerback. Either that, or they'll move Howedes back to his natural central defense position and play Grosskreutz or Durm. Whatever happens, if Hummels can't play, then it's a huge gain for Argentina and a huge loss for Germany. Ginter is very inexperienced. Mertesacker is slow as a turtle. Grosskreutz is a converted winger who has 89 minutes of experience at fullback on the international level. And Durm is a converted striker who also has very little experience.
