You have to sign top young(ish) players when they become available. It's not like we're golden in defence. I don't want to see us sleeping while others make the right moves. We've done that already with the Iscos, the Modrics, the Marquinhos etc.

I'm pretty sure Hummels' father is his agent. Maybe we can set up a nice family vacation for the Hummels family? :lucho:

I like him but he is rather slow. I feel he will end up at United. I wonder what Van Gaal has got in mind with him. Come to think of it Blind is doing OK for them as well despite his lack of pace. He probably is gonna look to dominate possession even more next season.

Mascherano is certainly not the fastest, he had some considerable technical gaps and he became a great defender. I would never refuse the current Hummels at Barca for the right price.

Mascherano has absolutely great acceleration. Hummels is too similar to Pique, they shouldn't be both on field at the same time. One year ago I'd have said maybe, but with Pique's current form nah, he's not necessary. Also CB is unlikely to become a problem in next 2 years. We need to fix RB and midfield first, not wasting resources on other positions.

Just read that his contract expires this summer. How has his form been this season?

EDIT: 2017, not this summer. Anyway, we could get him cheap.

That's what I was saying... Hard to see him leave Dortmund though.
