Barçapocalypse NOW!
Yeah, I guess it's the same when we sell for over 20 million and consider it a good deal...

To be honest, BVB just absolutely sucks at selling key players. Kagawa and Sahin went for a joke of a fee, Götze had a release clause that didn*t put anyone off, no fee at all for Lewa, and now Hummels goes for what, 30m? If your pricing is that much of a joke, then it's no surprise that you would constantly get raided for your players.
Kagawa & Sahin had one year left in their contract too IIRC .
And that is actually the problem with BVB , next season alone 3 of their top players would have their last year of contract .Gundogan ,Hummels & Mkhitaryan .
They need to do better business with their own player . they keep waiting till last second for renewal talks . those player should have sold or renewed 2 years b4 there contracts is over
Or maybe they should just take one for the team, sell maybe Aubameyang for one of those crazily high rumored fees at a point where their contract isn't running out next year, use the money for contract renewals and wage upgrades. Sacrifice one and save the others. Don't always muddle through and play the no-selling club gimmick until you find yourself in another "sell now for low OR keep 1 year and release for free" situations.
You just don't sell your best player at their prime as a top club.
He isn't their best player. But as long as other clubs think that, they will make it rain. The resulting fee would help keeping their actual best players.
Whether Obameyang is their best player or not aside, he is certainly one of their top players and if they sell him for the sake of maximizing profit while he is still banging in a lot of goals for them, what kind of message does it send out to the world? And what does it say about BVB?
The risk is just too high.
Maybe that's the problem, they are too bothered with what others think of them. In my opinion this is better than being regarded as the club that sells 1-2 key players each season. Whatever they do, they need to up wages. If they want top flight football for a long time, then they need money. Wether they sell Auba or get it elsewhere (no CL price money from this season for them). In my opinion BVB is in need to transform from a temporary big club to a consecutively big club, which involves having luck and a plan of what to do.
German clubs, outside Bayern, arent looking to become big clubs. Their objective is to devolop players which they can feed Bayern with, in order to make Bayern as strong as possible, if they can have a good season or two on the side thats a bonus. Its commonly accepted in Germany that Bayern is the king on the hill, and no one should mess with the hierarcy. Bayern abuses this situation of course, and act like they own the league, which they do. All the more fun when they get taught a lesson, year after year, that things doesnt work that way outside of their little kingdom(Spanish clubs knocking them out).
Thank you for your input, Morten.
No problem. You cant deny that there is a real defeatist-mentality in Germany, even Dortmund accept being bitched around by Bayern. They dont seem to mind at all, they just accept that Bayern is the top dog, its just the way it is so it must always be so.
