There aren't that many defenders that would actually add something to our squad.
The type we need is 'Chiellini', but he is declining. An alternative would be Benatia, imo.

Luiz is not of the type 'rocksolid' and therefore not needed.

Players like Chiellini, Kompany and Benatia are only considered "rock-solid" because they look serious and hoof the ball everytime they get it. They make the ocassional blunder but people decide to overlook that because it doesn't suit their perception of those players.

Probably both. Because we are going to sign 2 CBs, 1 young and 1 experienced. But I still wont call Luiz experienced

To be honest then I thought so as well. That Subo is much better than Hummels. Subo is great, so is Hummels.

Subotic although far less talented than Hummels, is IMO, a better, more reliable defender.

There's a bit of 'star factor' as well. People might cite not seeing that much Bundesliga to argue against Subotic's quality, but they'll have no bother accepting Hummels because he's more of a household name, plays for a top nation, has some extra footballing ability. People who watch Borussia regularly know that Subotic brings the calm and technical attributes to the side.

Hummels brings the leadership.

I actually think Hummels is better, he deals with situations calmly and his thing is cutting out situations before they happen. Subotic does more last ditch work.

Hummels is much more technical than Subotic. But he is also a really good cb.
