I really hope we sign none of them.. Hummels is terribly slow and bad fit with Pique..
As i see most of you prefer Thiago Silva? Do you have any indications of Silva being any fast and agile in defending? He is Pique no2. Great with the ball, good in his aerial duties, but not fast, not good in sweeping or making clever runs to prevent an 1versus1, not good in last ditch tackles e.t.c.
There are many other names we should discuss here..
Personally i think the best fit would be Sergio Ramos, but its unlikely we buy him..

I like Hummels, but him and Pique together wouldn't work. Thiago Silva is amazing, by far the best CB at the moment, but 40 mio for a 29year old ...no thanks! He's also very injury prone.

For that money, we could sign both Inigo Martinez and Vertonghen. Another good option would be Subotic.

Subotic gets no love, but against Madrid he was as solid as Hummels except he didn't gift them a goal. He should also be cheaper. Also Schalke has a lot of central defenders. I know that Howedes is pretty good, but what about K. Papadopoulos and J. Masip? Back in the day they where both promising...

What is the obsession with speed? Speed alone is not going to do anything if the defender is terrible. We might as well sign Usain Bolt to play CB. He has height, too.

Speed alone is obviously not useful, but it's so helpful in general. I mean, look at Alba. One of the main reasons he's considered so good is because of his monstrous pace.

We play a high line and Pique is slow, we need speed to deal with counter attacks.
