Atletico was a match in a covid season, without fouls, fans, fight, physical duels or too much importance.

Also, all these players are top footballers.
All of them know how to play football and they will have world class matches here and there.
Gomes, Denis, Deulofeu, Tello, Munir, Samper, Alena, Roberto as a CM, Rafinha.
They all had some world class performances, but that doesn't make them good enough for Barcelona.

Griezmann who played for years for Atletico and who won a WC with France struggles here.
Dembele and Coutinho who had awesome seasons before Barca, struggle here.

Yet, you are making a case for Puig out of 1 match.

Arthur had at least 20 world class matches for Barca but in the end, he was not good enough.

Puig played one good game and had a few 5 minutes cameos against dead tired Mickey Mouse opponents where we had 90% of possession.
Puig didn't play more than two or three times without appearing world class to me. Juventus was another time. Only Busquets impressed me more from the midfield position in Barcelona the last five years or so.

Whatever, he doesn't play anymore. Some posters get more negative towards him as time goes by without watching him play. I judge him based on what he did on the field, and I've made my point here. Let's continue the discussion after he played more, whether it be on loan at Betis or in Barcelona under a new manager. If he starts to play mediocre for 10-15 games I would consider changing my mind, I won't change my mind based on him looking great every time he gets five minutes, even if it is against tired mickey mouse opponents.

Out of the players you listed, I could see after one game that Gomes and Deulofeu wasn't good enough. The rest were of good squad rotation quality, Tello standing out as more of a one dimensional fast winger useful only in certain situations, like Cuenca, Jeffren or Konrad. I don't think anyone of these players had "world class" in them. Griezmann, Dembele and Coutinho are worse players than most of these players for Barcelona, and that could be seen before they arrived.

I agree that Arthur played very well a lot of games, I think he had the quality to succeed in the right circumstance but maybe there were personality issues.

Gomes, Denis, Deulofeu, Tello, Munir, Samper, Alena have never convinced me, they had some good moments and thats it. You could see after watching two matches that they wont succeed at barca. Roberto is a level higher than them and i think rafinha would have be a good player for us if he wouldnt have been injured all the time.

You see more in Puig than in Alena and Denis?

Alena was hyped by all of us a few years ago as a complete package technical, physical and mental wise.

A lot of people thought that Denis could be Iniesta-light.

It is easy to say in hindsight that they were meh, but back in the day they were showing miles more than Puig.

For example, I never rated Denis and I used to say that he is the worst player in our 25-men squad but he is still way better/more complete footballer than Puig.

Denis is a nice Uefa cup level player.
About Puig, I still don't believe that he will be a starter in any La liga team once when they see his skills/flaws on 10-20 matches.

He'll start as a starter and soon get benched by every manager after a few Months.

Lmao you have personality issues I swear. Puig either performes decently, above average, or really well when he plays. He rarely (if ever) gives us a shit game/cameo despite his lack of minutes. He's a la masia player. It's okay if you don't like him, but it's just weird to keep writing paragraphs about his supposed lack of talent every single day when he doesn't even play. Even worse, you're predicting that he'll turn out to be a bad player based on hunches because you can't actually use his performances against him. It's like you WANT him to lose.

It's so fucking weird.

Nothing can compare to top 5 midfielder in the world, equal to Iniesta/Xavi, more creative than Xavi, better than Gundogan...

For his performances, mostly he plays as a sub so nothing much to say. Truth is several coaches don't rate him. It should tell you something. Either he is bad or he just pisses every coaches off.

I think it’s his size that puts most off, Koeman has chucked him on a few times when we’ve been chasing a result so he must recognise he does offer something with the ball. But without the ball it’s a different story.

This is a pure waist of a potential good player. But managers nowadays have zero patience.

Still remembering the debut of Xavi and how everyone was saying he is no bar?a material even if he took too much time to flurish we all know how it turned up.

This kid IS barca material just like Alena

People saying Alena is doing bad outside bar?a remember that Except players like Messi/Iniesta/Ronaldinho/Suarez ... etc the rest will play like shit in teams with different mentalities.

Meanwhile ... Trincao

Nice that you compare Trincao to Puig. Both aren't used enough at Barca but Trincao is still rated highly for his national team or at least U21 team. He is still a starter for them. Puig is a bench warmer for U21 Spain.

If Koeman is the only one not rate him, it is easy to understand but every coaches do not rate him. That including national team. And if you watch his games for U21 side, all are bad/mediocre performances.

I like Ricky, but his faith seems already sealed - same that happened to Samper, Cucurella, Arnaiz, Deulofeu, Alena...

Lol, some acting as if starting Puig over Pedri in 1 game is gonna be the end of the world. Apocalypse will come. We won like 5-1 when that happened.

I am not a fan of Puig haters.

He hasn't even played badly and has shown good energy when he has played.

If you can't see that you are delusional and just a hater
