How many titles did Barca win back then with Sera Ferrer, Rexach, and Antic?

2000-01 - 4th in La Liga (we qualified 4th in the last minute of the last match, with a Rivaldo golazo vs Valencia)
2001-02 - 4th in La Liga (barely)
2002-03 - 6th in La Liga (lol)

So, Xavi did well in the years before Pep, in a team having mediocre results for Barca standards, or even lower. So, he made it, but the standards were much lower back then. He was also one of the greatest CMs ever.

We are 2nd and 3rd in the last two seasons with 2:8 and 2:5 defeats in a CL.

We are only 1-2 years away from equalling Gaspart's era.

Since Messi will be 35 soon and we have strengthened with Aguero, we have very good chances not to win anything.

So, how are standards higher today than back then if we are as equally as bad in La Liga and a CL?

Maybe if we hired a good manager that would show the intent of playing the style we teach our youngsters at La Masia, instead of the mediocrity that we brought post-Guardiola, you would see less of this argumentation because fans would trust the manager more. How can you trust somebody like Koeman when you see what he did at the end of this season, relying on the same old dudes that made us a joke in the last few years? You can't.

As for the "can't even make his U-21 NT" it's an extremely poor argument and you know it. Most managers won't play players that barely get match time at their team. Look at Pedri, if he's not at Barca and playing every week, not in a million years does he get called for Spain, even though he was the exact same player at Las Palmas. Thing is, most managers call the known names and the players that are in the limelight at their teams.

I'm also tired of hearing fans moaning about every signing or every youngster, saying how everyone is a flop, and at the same time giving a free pass to mediocre managers like Valverde or Koeman. So, it goes both ways I guess.

Bullshit. Puig was called up two months ago then he was still benched. They just think he is no good.

I personally thought he was heavily involved and at least injected some urgency. First half was so drab.

Yeah, he looked to be the only one to care for quite a bit of that second half. And together with Busquets the only one with some spark of genius at times, and able to position himself correctly at pretty much all times.
Still not a very good performance, a bit hit/miss as it has been. I think he would really benefit from regular playing time.

I thought it was interesting to see some players looking not to pass him as it appeared, and him and Alba having a discussion over that pass going out for a throw in. I'd think those two would understand each other really well.

BBZ:s post above is really wrong and I might quote it later.

No doubting he was good in the minutes he got today. Must be said his performance is only highlighted because of how bad the rest of the team was today. but credit where it's due he played well. Still think he's too erratic and a year on loan learning how to condition himself for a full game is crucial for him and for us if we're to rely on him at some point.

Only of Koeman stays. If Xavi comes Puig should go nowhere. Laporta has to make a decision soon.

His level currently is that of a good squad player that should get decent minutes every match (among the first subs, which means around 20-30 mins a match), and a start about once every 4 games.

If Xavi arrives I think he'll end up relying on different players to Puig. I think he needs to grow and mature still. But yes, if Xavi comes it would be silly going on loan.
