Memphis Depay

CF obviously. Unless you want to count on Fati and Griezmann there. Depay at the very least has the right build and played there for Koeman. Hes not the most inspiring transfer, but hes decent enough. Its probably Messis last season as well, and we can significantly improve the team with some minor transfers (Wijnaldum, Depay, Garcia) without jeopardizing our future. We owe him that.

100% agree on this. Wijnaldum, Depay and Garcia could cost around 40 mil together so that's a very good business IMHO. We will get some money for Alena, Todibo, Rafinha, Miranda, Wague, Oriol and Braithwaite so 40 mil shouldn't be a problem. With Raki gone and Suarez, Vidal and Umtiti leaving we will also save a fortune on their salaries. Buying these 3 players makes all the sense in the world at a fairly low risk. Furthermore, only one of them is "old" while two of them will have a resale value if they don't make it here.

He got bullied and tossed around by both Chiellini and Bonucci. After a whlie he started dropping deeper, drifted out wide alot and then Luke De Jong came on after that. His movement is unlike anything you would expect from a functional CF. He doesn't do well on his own up front especially against physical defenders.

After a while he drifts around like he does with Lyon but he plays with Dembele there so it's not a big deal. With Netherlands, he hardly offers movement or runs to create space for vdb behind him. Messi would do better with an actual CF ahead of him not another ss like himself up front. That would be pointless.

that's why the suarez transfer worked so well for messi. he needs a CF that fights defenders, plays one-twos, opens channels etc.

depay would be griezmann mk 2. with better dribbling and shooting.

No offense, but prime MSN in 2017 were also bullied.
2 best creative players in the world, Messi and Neymar, barely created 2-3 chances over 180 minutes against Juventus.

Does that mean that Messi and Neymar also suck and that they weren't worthy of our shirt?

My argument in that other thread was in fact about posters who claim to be Messi fans and then shit on Messi. In other words, trolls or agenda driven alt accounts.

No problem with Serghei who's upfront in his criticism of Messi. That's simply a difference of opinion.

Perhaps if you weren't hell bent on tribalism, you'd see this.

I see him more of a left side player. I'd have Depay - Fati for the left side. And Dembele - Trincao for the right side. Messi - Griezmann for the center. But only if he comes in for 25m at most.

That would look great for me as far as attack is concerned.

Barca were tactically outclassed by Allegri in both legs, especially the first and as usual we sucked pretty bad away in CL. IIRC Lucho tried a horrible setup and it backfired.

Was prime MSN ever bullied? Many times. But my main argument is Depay does not fit the profile of a CF we should be looking for. He is not even a CF in the first place. You have all these creators in midfield like Pjanic plus Messi and others. The least we could do is have a proper cf ahead of them.

True, but lack of alternatives and his possible low price are worth the investment. Nobody thinks he is the ideal "9" or anything close. But right now, we are relying on forever injured Dembele, Fati (who is still a kid and developing), Trincao (who we don't know how will play).

Imo, Rakitic + Vidal out with Gini in, plus Suarez out and Depay in are good changes for not a lot of money.

True, but the other options are Suarez, SS Griezmann, CF 33 years old-doesnt move off the ball Messi, Jesus, Lautaro and 17 years old Fati.

So, Depay is the best option out of these.

I'd rather wait another year without a forward and save the money for Haaland or whoever rises up. We aren't going anywhere with Depay anyway, it's not like he's the difference between us and winning the CL/La Liga or without him we're at risk of losing a CL spot.

I would rather reinforce the midfield and defence as much as we can this year and let the acquisition of a CF for another year when a truly world class player might become available. I feel like Depay is just going to be another player in the treadmill of forwards.

For 25-30 mil I would take Maxi Gomez. He would be around the same price as Depay and at least would perform way in that role.
