Mesut Ozil

It might be United you guys. They are pursuing him as well. Personally from what I've read from statements Pep doesn't want Ozil. He seems to trust our youngsters, which imo are up to fill in as subs (esp. Thiago). However, I'm afraid that Rosell would sign him anyway just so he could make 1 high profile signing this summer.

trust the youth pep, trust the youth.

Ozil makes no sense, after the impressive performances of Thiago in the U19 cup and JDS in the friendlies.

tiago will be ass good in a few years if given the chance, look how well canales has been doing for real in the preseason.

this is going against everything the club claims it stands for.

Exactly what i was thinking. Rosell needs a big signing and this is it. Pep can be persuaded aswell, its not as though we are overpaying or going for a player who doesnt have the characteristics to play for us..

Not sure what to make of it tbh. He's a fantastic player and would certainly fit nicely into our side. But whether there's room for him is another question. When you add in the youngsters of Pedro, Bojan, JDS, Thiago all pushing for a first team place/involvement, it's difficult to see how there's room for him.

If Iniesta picks up injuries again could Ozil slot into his role, or Xavi's? Or would JDS/Thiago be a better choice. Cesc is almost certain to arrive next summer, we can't just buy Ozil for 1 season, even if we'd make a great profit.

The Ozil transfer wouldn't negatively impact Thiago IMO. I think you can have Ozil as a first team mainstay along with Thiago. JDS is still a fringe first teamer IMO. He could do with a loan spell. Ozil and Thiago would give adequate creative cover, and then I would look to sign Pirlo to complete the midfield as he can cover both Busquets and Xavi positions. Ozil can also cover on the left or right as needed. Highly versatile attacking midfielder.

It does not surprise me the new board has moved quickly because they know they need to do something after the Cesc fiasco.

Pep has played JDS more than Thiago if im not mistaken? so if anything Thiagos more of a fringe player

for 10 mill (12-15 possibly total) its a great signing and good business no matter how you look at him. leaves 35 mil currently free and ozil IS a great player, only 21 too.
