Renewal.
Seems his relationship with the club currently has lots of strain.
He has contract till 2023, two more years. by the end of it he will be 31.
He knows if he wants a big raise, more years he needs to ask now, Liverpool otoh seems to want to play hardball, with possibility of him being considered possibility for both parties.
His own mentor, and Egypt's most popular player ever, Mohamed Aboutrika said that Salah should consider moving to Barca/RM.

You have to marvel how Liverpool are handling these issues.
They stand their ground and refuse to make the mistake of 'rewarding' current performance with a projection to the future that ruins a team both financially and on the pitch when the player declines.
More or less we know when a player declines especially in positions like Salah's that demand constant energy and effort.
They are even doing this with Winjaldum who is a fitness freak

Yep. Both Liverpool and Bayern have a good shot here of winning many titles over the next 4-5 years. If they don't make the mistake of handing the keys to a core of players past their prime. As long as Klopp is there he will handle things well.

If this was Barca, Salah would've been extended for the next 5 years with record wages immediately after the CL win.

The club is bigger than any player. When you run a successful model, players should be the ones to want to stay. So, the bargaining power shifts to the club. It's simple. I run a successful football club currently, and I am paying you well, the most I can in order to keep running a successful model. If you don't want to continue, this means you are prioritizing money over titles and glory. So this is already a red flag for me, the club, because my star player is more focused on his pay-check than titles.

That's why Klopp is so important. As long as he is there, they will have options. They can replace anyone.

Yep, it’s very admirable. Just overall a lot more professional clubs than Barca.

They learned from the mistakes of Barcelona and RM. And Bayern learned from themselves on top of that.

This is part of why (not the only reason) RM were so successful in CL...they knew they had the best team in the world and didn't give anything less than 100% as I believe Barca did in the Inter 1st leg and the Chelsea ties.

It's also cycles. Pool were a running joke for 25+ years. They're having their limelight now versus Barca who've been spoiled rotten with trophies between 1990 and 2015.

Yes, it's cyclical. Even with Madrid, it's cyclical, even though they produce successful models and teams more regularly than anyone else. They have grim patches as well, of poor management.

Bayern, a.k.a. FC Hollywood, as well. Even they fuck up once every few cycles.

It's all about people in general, it's not like the clubs are cursed, it's just that some managers and presidents and technical directors and so on, are better than others. Not always the guys making decisions are the right ones. We had a guy who knew these things, a master manager, and we pushed him away because of club politics.

Who knows what would've happened if the relationship was different. This board came in what 2011, and in 2012 Pep (obviously seen as Laporta's guy probably) was gone. At Barca there is a toxic club policy where the next board has to undermine what the previous one did. Build their own legacy. It's quite a slimy politician's view that has infected the club. So on top of football-matters, you have this "political" thing as well.

Lmfao biggest false narrative.

The board bent over backwards to keep Pep but he left anyway that's a FACT.

I think it's time for people in this forum to get out of denial and just accept how it is. I don't see us becoming decent until 22/23 or so. Clubs like Man U have been on a downfall for the past seven years. Let's just hope ours doesn't go that long.

I was going on about this a long time ago. We have another three years of pain ahead imo. Even a fantastic president would find it hard in our current state. No money, a mess on and off the field.

How can we even afford this guy? . We cannot even buy a defender like Garc?a for 15 million. Liverpool would ask
For a minimum of 80 million.

4 or 6 years? 5 years ago we looked like the best team in the world. Look were we got few years later.
Klopp has lost his touch before in BVB, and he will do it again sooner or later at Liverpool. Their core players are getting olkder.

What is more is how this team will handle their older key pieces.
Liverpool will have a decision to make, acting "club is bigger than any player" looks nice and everything for fans, but not for agents. You do this and you will have a Chelsea situation when top performers like Hazard & Courtois plan their way out with refusing to renew. If you try over win things, you are bound to lose.

Obviously our own faults isn't the way to it, you can't hand 5 or more players long term contracts to their mid 30's. But they have to be selective, and sometimes it is worth it to have a player overpaid for couple of years if it means you get 3 great years before it.

We aren't interested, if anything we are used as leverage.
And new board will most likely as for some monitory relief/loans and will get it. Signings will happen in 2021, we are still one of the most profitable clubs in the world.
Also, Messi is either leaving or renewing for less, one of Griezmann/Coutinho will have to leave to open space for new players. This will make funds for new signings.
