JamDav bigging up Roberto to high heavens.
Think you need to read it again.
Pretty much nothing bigging up Roberto there bar pointing out the obvious.... he has been better than Semedo.

At what? Picking up stupid red cards? It was open boulevard with Roberto vs Chelsea. Semedo is not stellar in defense or anything, but if you call Semedo shaky, Roberto isn't even on the map defensively.

Semedo does nothing in build up, nothing going forward and is not anywhere close to a good defender.

Yet still in a diiferent league to Semedo going forward and the better RB for Barca.
Neither look good enough overall but Roberto had better season and not even close.
Semedo was fucking awful v Levante.... Levante.

After he was great vs Madrid covering up for the shit Roberto pulled and keeping Marcelo on check. Whole team was awful vs Levante dude. When the whole system is down nobody can do anything, it impacts everything.
We should sell the whole team if you look at the Levante game.

All the games before lately nothing serious happend over his side and now people are arguing cause he didnt look good in a game where half the team was positioning bad?!
Seriously i can understand every complain about his offensive game but someone telling me he is a bad defender i cant take serious anymore...

Roberto was stupid to get sent off. Also set up a goal in way Semedo has not all season and no Semedo was nothing special v Real either.
Who is saying sell Semedo based on Levante game?
Semedo was fucking awful and is not this strong defensive player some try desperately to make out he is as he is so lacking going forward.

Only Jamdav using a horrific team performance to push his Roberto the great defender over poor Semedo agenda. Everybody who knows one or two about the basics of a fullback would take Semedo over Roberto.

Nope was saying he was weak in all the things he showed in that game before that game started.
He is not a very good defender. Positionally poor and follows ball too much. His pace can help him and he is good at one on ones but not good enough this season.

433 with our current turtles in midfield and with attackers who don't defend is asking for troubles.
Just like in Lucho's last season...
With 433, any away match can end 4:0, 4:4 or 0:4.
Majority of our away matches in last Lucho's season were a horror show, we were all over a place defensively.
When EV switched to 442, those problems disappeared.
When EV returned to 433, we again turned into a team who can score 5, or concede 3-4-5 in virtually any match.
That is really NOT a coincidence.
433 with our current midfield and attackers is just asking for troubles.
** and before anyone mentions Arthur: NO. One controlling midfielder won't solve problems of other 2 turtles in midfield and 3 attackers who don't defend.

Never claimed Roberto a great defender and said would want Barca to sign a RB if decent one available.
Roberto been better of two though which says it all about Semedo.
You just keep clinging to the excuses about Semedo all season.
Anyone who understands in slightest what a FB at Barca means knows why Valverde preferred Roberto.

I've seen Semedo vs Douglas Costa, keeping him in check and blocking him in 180 mins with minor problems. Then I've seen Roberto vs Willian (a similar, most would alrgue a less explosive version of Costa) being in over his head and beaten for pace easily. Like it or not, out wide, if you don't have pace, you're dead. Fast players fly past you with ease. Roberto vs Wilian on Camp Nou. Min 15 or so, foul Roberto and yellow. After that Willian goes past him because he knows he is not fast enough and strong enough to match him. He also knows that he also can't do a foul because he's on a yellow. And we're not even talking about poor positioning here. Just pure ability to keep up with your man. The simplest and most important test for a RB and Roberto fails it. Semedo doesn't. You big up Roberto as if his positioning is great. Positioning wise, both Roberto and Semedo are off the mark. Semedo at least can limit the damage by not allowing his man to create havoc in an individual way.
1 vs 1 duels occur very often in the wing, because that's the area were losing the ball is not big of a deal. So every team tries to force 1 vs 1s there. Even if for this reason alone (which is incredibly important) there's no way in hell Roberto is better defensively than Roberto.

Roberto is literally one of the worst 1v1 defenders I've seen in my life, not far off from Vidal in this respect. If he'd played vs Levante we would've lost 7-4 or 8-4
It wasn't just Roberto's red vs RM, he was literally targeted and abused time and time again by doubling up on his wing. He couldn't win a 1v1 to save his life and was always caught out of position.
Going forward, he is ridiculously overrated. Just makes straight line runs and gets shepherded into bad spots and recycles the ball most of the time. He's not even averaging more than .1-.2 more dribbles and key passes per game than Semedo. Pretty much 1 more chance created and dribble every 5-10 games, yet he's "in a different league going forward" LOL. He does have 7 assists and was better going forward in the first half of the season, but in the CL? He might as well be fucking Douglas. Literally a horrorshow on both ends and can't create chances in the CL to save his life, even when he was playing in a more advanced position.
Semedo, when paired with Dembele, is actually good going forward a decent amount of the time. If Valverde EVER played that lineup with any sort of regularity we'd see it much more. He overlaps for throughballs and connects very well with him overall.
