I can see everyone thinking he's the next Cafu based on one game.

Not me. He had a very good game. But I want to see him against better opposition. Then I will form my judgement
Troll, nobody is mentioning and thinking about Cafu. Why would we, he never played for Barça. Alves is more logical but that's to soon for those comparision.

So far, he´s proved me wrong. Here i am to bend the knee. Gladly.

I remember you. You were thoroughly convinced that Semedo would be a flop and wouldn't even listen to proper arguments for the opposite. Like a lot us predicted, Semedo would prove you (and other doubters) wrong.

I had my reasons. Many players way better than him failed when going abroad from Portugal. Your proper arguments were not convincing at all because most of you never seen him play.

I think the main argument used was Danilo's failure, which is a flawed argument in general, imo. Using other players' failures as a means of putting all players in a similar situation under the same umbrella is just setting yourself up for being proven wrong. The same argument is often used for La Masia players and people often end up with egg on their face in regards to that.

His first real test will be against Juve, really wondering how he'll perform
I don't understand this 'real test' thing.
Each match has it's own unique circumstances, There is no golden 90 minutes window where we're supposed to see a player 'true' level, For me I don't think it makes sense to pick a specific match from the calendar, And decide extrapolate a view on said player from this said match.
For example, A lot of external factors at the juventus match might affect semedo's performance, Like the performances of his team mates that surround him, Or the performance of juventus players, semedo may also just have one of those bad days, Or juventus's left forwarder may have one of his great days.

Semedo's 'true' test will be his overall performance throughout this whole season

That makes two of us.

The main argument was all the failures from the PT league that go abroad. Most of them fail. The Benfica players are the most hyped because the press is for them. You have to live in PT to understand. Therefore i always have a lot of doubts when a big club signs a PT league player for a load of money. Of any club. Porto players have also failed but they have less mindless hype.

Sanches, Gaitan, Lindelof, Garay, Mangala, Jackson Martinez, Fernando, Javi Garcia and many others have failed. Some have prevailed like AlexSandro, James, Falcao.

Its a lot easy to play well against Espanyol than a great team like Juventus. That´s why. It´s easy to figure it out. Not only a test for Semedo but for Barça.

We were outplayed by merdrid in the supercup. We seem better at the moment but Tuesday we will face same one of the best teams in Europe.

The 5-0 against Espanyol do not get me to the moon. I did see some things from the Pep era i liked it ( the triangles). To do the same against top players is different.
