All BBZ ever does is bend 'facts' back to the days of Rijkaard to suit his argument.
Constantly spouts rubbish like three good games in 18 months when in last two last two games alone has been one Barcas best in a number before that.
Neymar has been Barcas second best player this season and has had some shit games but only Messi has had more good games. Only Ney/Messi have had games when they have been out of this world and carried the team on their backs as well.
Great player and there is literally nothing he can do for likes of BBZ to like him. He actively wants him to fail to be proven right. Thankfully he hasnt been.
It is quite easy to explain why he is the 2nd or 3rd best player here.
If Messi plays 38 La liga matches per season, Messi will usually have 30-ish world class matches and 8 matches where he will be quiet or average.
Guys like Rakitic will always be=Rakitic.
He is a way weaker player than guys like MSN. So, Rakitic will usually play like an average Rakitic.
A few times per season, he will have an awesome game, and a few times, he will be horrible.
The same will be with Alba, Digne, Roberto, Masch etc.
This is not A FACT, this is my attempt to explain you in numbers.
Imagine that Messi's average quality is 10.
Neymar is at 9.
Rakitic is at 7.
Alba is at 7.
Roberto is at 6 etc.
Now, in terms of rating, average Messi's season will look like this:
10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5
-- so, 2 world class matches, one average match, for example
Rakitic's season will be like this:
-- since he is an average player for Barca's standards, he will most often play for a grade 7.
-- so his season will be: an average game 7, average game 7, poor game 3, average game 7, average game 7, world class game 10.
-- so, something like 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10, 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10
Now, if you compare Messi and Rakitic and their grades after 10 matches, it will be:
Messi 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5
Raki 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10, 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10
Now, on topics like Man of the match, and on internet sites who rate players, after 10 matches, Messi will have 6-7 Motm performances.
While Raki will have 2 matches out of 10 where he was among 3-4 best Barca's players.
So, if you look at the ratings on internet sites or at MOTM thread on this forum, Messi will clearly be superior to Raki (I am not saying that he isn't).
But, but, but.
Let's go to Neymar now.
Since he in general is a way better than Raki, his average matches will be better than Raki's average matches.
So, if Neymar would play the same as Raki: average, average, bad, average, average, world class, his grades would be something like: 9, 9, 3, 9, 9, 10 (or 12 if a rating 12 would be possible).
So, if Neymar (who is a better player than Raki) and Raki would play in the similar pattern: average game, average game, bad game, average game, average game, world class game=Neymar will always have better ratings since his average match is just way better than Raki's and in his average match he makes more wonders than Raki in his match.
But, I would be fine with Neymar if he played in the same pattern as Raki.
The problem is (imo. Not a FACT, just my estimation), that even if Neymar plays world class way less often than Raki, he will still have better average rating on MOTM thread and on internet sites who give grades after matches.
Look why:
Let's say that Neymar plays in this pattern this season:
1st match: average match 5/10
2nd match: poor match 2/10
3rd match: world class, MOTM with Messi, 10/10
4th match: poor match 2/10
5th match: poor match 3/10
6th match: world class match, 5 dribbles and 2 assist, 10/10
7th match: average 5/10
8th match: invisible, lost 12 balls, 1/10
9th match: the best with Messi, 10/10
Now, his grades after matches will be: 5, 2, 10*, 2, 3, 10*, 5, 1, 10*
Now compare his grades with Rakitic, who is a weaker player, but more consistent (with less ups and downs): 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10, 7, 7, 3, 7
So, in 10 matches, Neymar will have 3 matches where he played for 10. And 6-7 matches where people tell him to fuck off on chat.
Raki (or Busi or Rafinha) will have 7 average matches, 2 bad matches and 1 match where he will be either a MOTM or a MOTM with Messi.
So, now, when you look a MOTM thread after 10 rounds, it will look like this:
Messi 6 MOTM
Neymar 3 MOTM
Raki 1 MOTM
Busi 1 MOTM
Or top 3 performances in our team:
Messi 7 times
Neymar 4 times
Rakitic 2 times
Busi 2 times
After 38 rounds, this table will look like:
MOTM:
Messi 24
Neymar 12
Rakitic 4
Busi 3
Rafinha 1 etc
So, now we come to your argument that Neymar is our 2nd best player, as it can be seen on a MOTM thread, on internet sites and similar.
If you check closely a pattern how Neymar plays in each week, it again shows that he goes from a MOTM or Ballon D Or performances for 2 matches into 4 poor matches after that. Then 2 good matches, then 4 poor matches again etc.
Even if Neymar plays once in 3-4 rounds at his level, that will usually be good enough to earn him 10-ish MOTM or TOP2 performances in our team.
That IS good enough to be on top rankings on MOTM thread and on internet ranking sites.
But that is NOT good enough for Barca as a club, in terms of consistency, trophies, winning points against midtable teams on away matches and similar.
** Also, one more thing, Raki or Busi will "let you down" 1-2 times in 10 matches. They will usually play for 7 all the time.
With two poor matches.
While Ney will have 3 MOTM matches in 10 matches and he will let you down like 3-4-5 times in 10 matches (poor matches), plus he will have 2-3 average matches.
So, he will also LET YOU DOWN completely way more often than Busi, Raki, Rafinha, Roberto.
And yet, he will be on top MOTM threads, on internet sites and similar.
To some extent, in my eyes, Neymar plays exactly the same as Barca in 2001, 2002.
In those days, we played like this in La liga:
BIlbao 7:1
Alaves 0:0
Sociedad 6:0
Malaga 1:1
We would trash opponents by 6:0 or 7:0 in one round and 7 days later, we would play like idiots and play 0:0 against any opponent.
While, our opponents like Valencia and Real back then used to play like this:
1:0
2:0
1:0
2:1
They wouldn't trash anyone with 7:0, but they were consistently good.
So, on our day, Barca was the best team in the world.
But the problem was that we couldn't repeat those performances week in and week out.
So, Valencia and Real were less flashy than us, but way more consistent.
At the end of the day, Real and Valencia were winning both La ligas and played CL finals all the time.
So again, my point, the same as with Neymar:
if you play one week for 10/10 and then two weeks for 3/10 and 5/10=that's not good enough long term.
Another (weaker) guy who is able to play 8/10, 8/10, 8/10 every week will bring more points, assists and trophies to his team long term.
Again, this is not a FACT, but my estimation.
Neymar was below expectations both under Tata and Lucho.
He will have Valverde now.
If Neymar will continue to play the same as now (hot and cold all the time), then it is clear that it is NOT about bad coaches but about him.
