Neymar Jr. - v5

All BBZ ever does is bend 'facts' back to the days of Rijkaard to suit his argument.

Constantly spouts rubbish like three good games in 18 months when in last two last two games alone has been one Barcas best in a number before that.

Neymar has been Barcas second best player this season and has had some shit games but only Messi has had more good games. Only Ney/Messi have had games when they have been out of this world and carried the team on their backs as well.

Great player and there is literally nothing he can do for likes of BBZ to like him. He actively wants him to fail to be proven right. Thankfully he hasnt been.

It is quite easy to explain why he is the 2nd or 3rd best player here.
If Messi plays 38 La liga matches per season, Messi will usually have 30-ish world class matches and 8 matches where he will be quiet or average.
Guys like Rakitic will always be=Rakitic.
He is a way weaker player than guys like MSN. So, Rakitic will usually play like an average Rakitic.
A few times per season, he will have an awesome game, and a few times, he will be horrible.
The same will be with Alba, Digne, Roberto, Masch etc.

This is not A FACT, this is my attempt to explain you in numbers.
Imagine that Messi's average quality is 10.
Neymar is at 9.
Rakitic is at 7.
Alba is at 7.
Roberto is at 6 etc.

Now, in terms of rating, average Messi's season will look like this:
10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5
-- so, 2 world class matches, one average match, for example

Rakitic's season will be like this:
-- since he is an average player for Barca's standards, he will most often play for a grade 7.
-- so his season will be: an average game 7, average game 7, poor game 3, average game 7, average game 7, world class game 10.
-- so, something like 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10, 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10

Now, if you compare Messi and Rakitic and their grades after 10 matches, it will be:
Messi 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5, 10, 10, 5
Raki 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10, 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10

Now, on topics like Man of the match, and on internet sites who rate players, after 10 matches, Messi will have 6-7 Motm performances.
While Raki will have 2 matches out of 10 where he was among 3-4 best Barca's players.
So, if you look at the ratings on internet sites or at MOTM thread on this forum, Messi will clearly be superior to Raki (I am not saying that he isn't).

But, but, but.
Let's go to Neymar now.
Since he in general is a way better than Raki, his average matches will be better than Raki's average matches.
So, if Neymar would play the same as Raki: average, average, bad, average, average, world class, his grades would be something like: 9, 9, 3, 9, 9, 10 (or 12 if a rating 12 would be possible).
So, if Neymar (who is a better player than Raki) and Raki would play in the similar pattern: average game, average game, bad game, average game, average game, world class game=Neymar will always have better ratings since his average match is just way better than Raki's and in his average match he makes more wonders than Raki in his match.

But, I would be fine with Neymar if he played in the same pattern as Raki.

The problem is (imo. Not a FACT, just my estimation), that even if Neymar plays world class way less often than Raki, he will still have better average rating on MOTM thread and on internet sites who give grades after matches.

Look why:
Let's say that Neymar plays in this pattern this season:
1st match: average match 5/10
2nd match: poor match 2/10
3rd match: world class, MOTM with Messi, 10/10
4th match: poor match 2/10
5th match: poor match 3/10
6th match: world class match, 5 dribbles and 2 assist, 10/10
7th match: average 5/10
8th match: invisible, lost 12 balls, 1/10
9th match: the best with Messi, 10/10

Now, his grades after matches will be: 5, 2, 10*, 2, 3, 10*, 5, 1, 10*
Now compare his grades with Rakitic, who is a weaker player, but more consistent (with less ups and downs): 7, 7, 3, 7, 7, 10, 7, 7, 3, 7
So, in 10 matches, Neymar will have 3 matches where he played for 10. And 6-7 matches where people tell him to fuck off on chat.
Raki (or Busi or Rafinha) will have 7 average matches, 2 bad matches and 1 match where he will be either a MOTM or a MOTM with Messi.

So, now, when you look a MOTM thread after 10 rounds, it will look like this:
Messi 6 MOTM
Neymar 3 MOTM
Raki 1 MOTM
Busi 1 MOTM

Or top 3 performances in our team:
Messi 7 times
Neymar 4 times
Rakitic 2 times
Busi 2 times

After 38 rounds, this table will look like:
MOTM:
Messi 24
Neymar 12
Rakitic 4
Busi 3
Rafinha 1 etc

So, now we come to your argument that Neymar is our 2nd best player, as it can be seen on a MOTM thread, on internet sites and similar.
If you check closely a pattern how Neymar plays in each week, it again shows that he goes from a MOTM or Ballon D Or performances for 2 matches into 4 poor matches after that. Then 2 good matches, then 4 poor matches again etc.

Even if Neymar plays once in 3-4 rounds at his level, that will usually be good enough to earn him 10-ish MOTM or TOP2 performances in our team.
That IS good enough to be on top rankings on MOTM thread and on internet ranking sites.
But that is NOT good enough for Barca as a club, in terms of consistency, trophies, winning points against midtable teams on away matches and similar.

** Also, one more thing, Raki or Busi will "let you down" 1-2 times in 10 matches. They will usually play for 7 all the time.
With two poor matches.
While Ney will have 3 MOTM matches in 10 matches and he will let you down like 3-4-5 times in 10 matches (poor matches), plus he will have 2-3 average matches.
So, he will also LET YOU DOWN completely way more often than Busi, Raki, Rafinha, Roberto.
And yet, he will be on top MOTM threads, on internet sites and similar.

To some extent, in my eyes, Neymar plays exactly the same as Barca in 2001, 2002.
In those days, we played like this in La liga:
BIlbao 7:1
Alaves 0:0
Sociedad 6:0
Malaga 1:1

We would trash opponents by 6:0 or 7:0 in one round and 7 days later, we would play like idiots and play 0:0 against any opponent.
While, our opponents like Valencia and Real back then used to play like this:
1:0
2:0
1:0
2:1

They wouldn't trash anyone with 7:0, but they were consistently good.
So, on our day, Barca was the best team in the world.
But the problem was that we couldn't repeat those performances week in and week out.

So, Valencia and Real were less flashy than us, but way more consistent.
At the end of the day, Real and Valencia were winning both La ligas and played CL finals all the time.

So again, my point, the same as with Neymar:
if you play one week for 10/10 and then two weeks for 3/10 and 5/10=that's not good enough long term.
Another (weaker) guy who is able to play 8/10, 8/10, 8/10 every week will bring more points, assists and trophies to his team long term.

Again, this is not a FACT, but my estimation.

Neymar was below expectations both under Tata and Lucho.
He will have Valverde now.
If Neymar will continue to play the same as now (hot and cold all the time), then it is clear that it is NOT about bad coaches but about him.

At the end of the day there is no one better than Neymar in that position, he is the only player alongside Messi who can lead an attack in this barca team. Each of the MSN can win matches in a few moments, that is why they are the best. What we really need to do is sign a supporting cast (midfield and full backs) to get the best out of them. If we sell Neymar, we would be making a huge mistake. Only acceptable thing would be get second best winger after neymar (who?) to play for us and also fix the midfield problems completely by getting both verratti and coutinho which is practically impossible even if we let neymar leave for his buyout clause. So no point in selling him, best to sign other players to get the best out of MSN.

@BBZ your point about MOTM is another distracted attempt, the fact is neymar is our second best player and also the 2nd best performer of the season with very less debate. Your MOTM point is a very weak attempt, you don't just sell your 2nd best player to rebuild a team, we are not spurs.

Making up numbers from thin air to suit your opinion means nothing at all.

He is second best player and only world class player in mid twenties. Thankfully will stay and keep on producing as best player in world in his position.

Already been through these lies when you tried to make out he was crap in January/February when he was voted MOTM or best outfield player in almost every second game he played.

That is a FACT and not some biased opinion.

Hasnt been below expectation at all. More lies.

Great player and lucky to have him.

Go on about how shit La Liga is now compared to Rijkaard time all you like. Which is more biased rubbish and is a negative on likes of Messi as well. Ney is producing goals and assists in CL and been a huge player for Barca in that competition but you will try to put blame on not winning it more on him as usual.

I've been not trying to defend my "status" being or not being a fan according to your vocabulary.
I simply gave an explanation to your statement after you questioned my "fanship", as if it would be criteria to say something about Neymar Da Silva Junior.

Probably you should request the honorable owner of this board to introduce an entrance-exam for all potential posters, who should first prove their existence as being true fans and then they can say something.
But he could possibly go even further and introduce stars or colors, marking the fan status, so only souls with the needed rank could say anything.
Ultimately you could achieve your aim and become a member of the fan-aristocracy, talking only to other true-fans or yourself.

As far as I gather, this forum was titled "Barcaforum" and not "Pub of the True & Biased Hardcore Barca Fans Gathering".
But all good things must come to an end, so wishing you fruitful debates with fans, where the more arrogant or aggressive someone is, his sentences carry even more weight...

Godspeed. Just as aggressive as the most but also a hypocrite. You reek of spite. See ya.

Sorry mate, but you've been aggressive and talking down to people as well on more than few occasions. This thread was volatile since 2013 so might as well get used to heated arguments because it's not going to go away now. It's a football forum with 90% of males so no need to be that sensitive.

There's always an ignore option available for users in case they feel they can't stand someone else.

More or less, sometimes when reading Neymar's thread, I get a feeling that people will more or less write one day:
1. we don't have Pep. This is why Neymar can't shine perfectly
2. we don't have prime Xavi and Iniesta and this is why Neymar is poor

1. Nobody is saying Neymar cant play perfectly just because we dont have Pep. What people have been saying is that Lucho is a shit coach with, shit tactitian and that he has his team play without a proper structure, gameplan etc.

2. Nobody is saying Neymar is poor because he doesnt have prime Xavi-Iniesta duo. Stop inventing stuff just to fit your arguments that are taken from thin air.

Wake up, guys. Barca existed before Pep, Xavi and Iniesta.
We had lots of world class players who played world class without Pep, Xavi and Iniesta (R9, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho, for example).
They also had a fair share of donkeys playing with them and sometimes horrible coaches.
Yeah, thats right. How many trebles did they win? How many titles have they won in comparison to Neymar and todays Barcelona if they were so much better?

So, what some of you are trying to say is: Neymar needs an absolutely perfect environment (coaches, teammates, system) in order to shine. If something is not perfect, a poor guy can't play good.

Lol.
Pls provide some quotes on someone implying that.

Ronaldinho played with donkeys like Saviola, granny Lucho, granny Cocu and similar in his first season here.
And had a one-man-show season, with way higher influence on field, on stats and on actual results than Neymar ever had.

While Ronaldinho had huge influence on the field play-wise, he hasnt had as huge impact stat-wise. If you are gonna troll to fit your agenda, pls do it properly.
Did Ronaldinho score in the CL final? Did he score against every single team in the CL KO round like Neymar did (and all of the teams were champions in their respective league)? Neymar in fewer games has more goals than Ronaldinho too. And if Ronaldinho and the older guys were SO DARN AWSUM on actually getting deez results and trophies why are we winning more now?

A few questions:
how many seasons in a row Hazard sucked or played way below his potential when he played in a top club?
Can he match Neymar's 3 poor (below his potential) seasons out of 4 seasons in Barca?
He can't.
Not a single top player in the world can't match a level of Neymar's inconsistency.

But ok. It is because of Lucho, poor Xavi and Iniesta.
While, as Torn replied, Hazard probably plays with 10 Messis on the field around him, right?
Did you forget Hazard didnt score a goals for months? Did Chelsea win a CL in which Hazard was very influential? :)
And wow how Hazard must suck if piss poor Neymar that only has 3 good games every 10 years still has better numbers than Hazard.

Again, have you watched Barca in 2001-2005 and with which donkeys Rivaldo and Ronaldinho had to play, and yet they managed to have way better seasons than Neymar, inspite of donkeys around them?
How is that possible then?
Ronaldinho had Rafael Marquez as a CDM in 2004/05 in midfield.
Mascherano and Andre Gomes are goats compared in playmaking skills with a defender Marquez.

That is simply not true. They mightve been more consistent but they wont beat Neymars treble season.
Oh please dont lie.

This is beyond crazy, mate.
Neymar played with fckng Messi, come on.
We had the biggest cheating codes in a history of sport (Messi).
If Messi is some kind of auto-win cheat, how come he hasnt won jack shit with Argentina? Why has he been subpar in comparison with Barcelona-Messi?

Rivaldo had to play with Saviola, Dutruel, Bonano, Christanval, Fabio Rochembak and similar and guided our team to CL semis.
Poor guy Ney and his team managed to not get into semis 3 times in Ney's 4 years here.
And he had MESSI around him.
You really need to try extremely hard to suck so hard with Messi in your team.

But did Rivaldo go all the way and actually win it?
Right, that is all on Neymar... smh

In 4 seasons here, we would probably win at least 1 CL in 4 attempts even with Pedro-Suarez-Messi or Munir-Suarez-Messi attack.
The same Pedro that doesnt even start in Chelsea? The same Munir who is subpar in the worst Valencia for ages? Wow this piece is some of the most pathetic sh!t ive ever read on the internet.
A guy is just here, he is costing us billions of dollars and at the end of the day, he isn't bringing any influence in actual results and trophies.
It doesnt matter what you say or how many times you say it but the FACT is that he has been heavily influental in a CL and our league titles to say the least.

So, you can go on with that story each 2 weeks, no problem.
And you can go on with grabbing numbers out of thin air.

Again, I don't see it as hating on our team, but actually wanting the BEST for our team, long term.
Yeah because our team would benefit HEAVILY by selling Neymar, the best LW in the world and by replacing him with a nobody and at the same time go back to rely heavily on Messi again as if he already doesnt have too much responsibility.

Yup, some Barca fans have been anti-Neymar from the start and nothing Neymar does will convince them to change their views.

It's comical really. Any other forum would be raving about how Neymar is the best player in the world (which he is not, but fans of any other team that had him would try to claim that he is, just look at the Madridistas still in denial over Messi and Ronaldo). If another team's fans heard they're about to pay 200m for him, they'd be buzzing with excitement. Here some people will accuse you of being a "fake fan" if you have anything postive to say about him.

also comical, you liking a post denouncing bias from both sides, before claiming you only see one side.

Neymar isn't perfect. I don't see anyone here claiming that he is. If anyone is claiming that, they're wrong.

Some members have never done anything other than defend neymar at every opportunity. That is clear as day.

Secondly, even though claiming neymar is perfect borders on clinical stupidity, I believe total-football qualifies. He claimed Neymar was the best player in the world. In December. Close enough ?

Can defend any player you want if think criticism is over the top and unfair.

That is different from taking it to extremes one way or the other.

Sure it's different but it's barely any better.
You can't defend x at every turn and never criticize him, unless that player is perfect.

Someone got BBZ good when they said that he's criticizing Neymar's lack of goals now but two years ago "blamed" his good goalscoring form on la liga being weak.

It's the same phenomena in the opposite direction. For example if Neymar had finished his chances better but assisted less they'd be arguing that neymar's role is to finish and help out midfield, not assist. etc.

I would say if Neymar is producing goals OR assists then he is doing his job in the final third. That is the difference. It isnt the same phenomena.

That is not to say he hasnt had some poor and frustrating games. He has but not nearly as much as is made out and has been Barcas second best player this season.
