maybe we should not put release clauses in our best players contracts just in case there's a club that is willing to pay their release clauses to sign our best players. psg want to sign neymar who has a release clause of €222 million and psg are prepared to pay that to sign him and if neymar accepts their contract but we want to keep him there's nothing we can do about it. not having release clause might be a good idea like psg have done with verratti who doesn't have a release clause in in his contract he signed last year, we want to sign him and he wants to join us but we can't sign him because they don't want to sell him and with no release clause in his contract there's nothing we can do about it.
we should give our best players 6 year contracts without release clauses and if any club make bids for our best players reject their bids and tell them this player has a 6 year contract and tell them he's not for sale at any price.
It is easy to say: we don't want to sell etc while the team is winning.
When a team is a crap (which we are in the last 18 Months, or which we are in the last 5 years except a magical 6 Months in 2015), then it is not set in stone that we don't want to sell.
If a team is not performing, if you want to try something new and if someone is willing to pay a shitload of money, then: take the money and run.
Ok, we should never consider selling someone like Messi or prime Xavi/Iniesta.
But all other players are somewhat available.
Especially in years when RM won 3 Cls in 4 years and won 15-20 points more than us in La liga since Zidane came.
What is the point in keeping a status quo in the team and not looking for new ideas, new solutions and changes?
What, we need to keep the exact current starting 11, so that Real can keep on banging La Liga and CL titles, while we will have "the best attacking trio" on paper, and 3 out of 5 best players in the world (on paper), sweet lemons type of alibi by our fans?
