Neymar Jr. - v5

One things for sure he needs to come out and actually say he wants to leave or stay. If he says he wants to leave then it gives us time to find a replacement, if he doesn't say what's on his mind here it leaves us in a even worst spot as we won't be able to find a suitable replacement.

So Neymar could trigger his €222 million clause himself without paying taxes. Still, it means that PSG should find a deal with Neymar himself to find a payment plan. I can't imagine a player that's willing to 'loan out' that kind of money (if he even has the money himself, which I doubt) or find a financial institution to finance the deal. Still, the total amount of money is nearly €500 million over five years time. Don't you think PSG will get in trouble with the FFP by that time since their revenues aren't that high?

Yep, no trouble for PSG : because of the amount of player they can still sell : Lucas Moura, Serge Aurier, Gregorz Krychowizackckjehugdekk, Blaise Matuidi, Angel Di Maria, and because the FFP allow Paris to spread the cost of the transfer on the length of the contract : a 5 years-deal for Neymar will cost 30m of salary + 44m for the release clause = 74m each year.

The 'I'm happy' story came from goal dot com who said he replied in an email

That sounds suspiciously fake to me. More so given goal's bad reputation.

And yes, Mundo Deportivo quoted goal dot com

He's been asked several times by journalists about it, but he's stayed silent.

Why?

He's apparently been asked by the club to clarify it.

Again, still silent.

He was asked again today in New Jersey, and he replied: 'Good Morning'

Why? He should come out clean about this because it's a distraction to our pre season.

Either deny it or fuck off and leave already so the team can move on and look to sign replacements.

These are all alarming and almost tell-tale signs that something is brewing underneath.

My guess is he has been persuaded by his father to leave for PSG but PSG needs to work out a plan to come up with the money to pay his release, which means this will not be over any time soon. Fuck.

If he really wants to leave, the best case scenario for us is that PSG says yay and comes up with the money lightening fast and be done with it.

If in the end PSG couldn't fork out the money needed to get him and he stays, he will still be a different person to me. Unless of course, all of these that we have read were totally fabricated which I seriously doubt.

If he's leaving, the quicker he goes the better, then Barca can focus on the new season instead all these stupid rumors.

Don't trust anything from MD by the way unless it's about La Masia.
They've become a puppet of this Rosell-Barto board long time ago.
I think Neymar will deny the rumors and show his (fake) affection for the club only when the things are settled.
I doubt if PSG is really capable of signing him this summer and my guess is that he and his father are using PSG to upgrade their contract (and probably request the signing of one of his close Brazilian friends).
So when Neymar clarifies the rumors publicly, it would only mean that Bartomeu promised him sth to calm things down.

Wow, so there is no tax if the player pays the release clause ( source:http://www.cityam.com/252013/recent-change-spains-tax-laws-could-make-buying-liga-manchester-united). The Spanish are so dumb. PSG is going to pay it no problem then.

If PSG do pay Neymar's release clause then Spanish clubs will simply create higher clauses as there is no ceiling on them.

If we wanted to, we could put 500m+ release clauses on our players and might be a wise thing to start doing if Neymar's clause actually gets activated.

But then would players sign for you with such release clauses. No.

If he wants to leave he should GTFO right now. Buy Coutinho and Dembele with the 222m and we'll walk the league next year.

You forget that Neymar is a star who wants to be in the spotlight and all media attention is good for business. So why kill the suspense? You guys think everything black and white . Let's say he has no intention to leave Barca, why he should come out and calm everyone down. What does he gain from it? What he gains from this is increase in popularity, additional earning opportunity, keep Barca board on their toes. It is convenient for PSG to keep this story going as well, because they put Barca on defense and getting the revenge for Verratti saga. Right in now the image for PSG is that they have unlimited cash, can cough up 220M and steal a prominent Barca star, all the media attention etc. It's good for business for them as well. What I don't understand is why our board is so pathetic and idiotic... Why starting from Rossell and up until now we have this annual crusade tradition to go after PSG players. This is the same shit every year. If PSG recruits all the best players you want , then fire Robert and hire PSG recruiters with sporting director because they obviously do a great job. But from PSG stand point Barca is enemy #1 and our board is doing everything to act like pricks towards them. It is really hard to blame PSG at this point.

Well the fact we haven't heard of him might suggest that something is going on.

I will panic when it happens, not a minute before. Sooo much BS in the media this (and every) summer. I mean, what became of Ronaldos "irreversible decision" to leave RM? He had already told his Portuguese teammates that his decision was final - all reliable sources in Portugal reported that. But, whoops, he stayed.

Now, who has an interest in this polemic situation? PSG has, because we stupidly and unwisely bullied them this summer until now, for a long lost cause. Neymar might have if he wants a new and better contract, even though he doesn't sign one this summer. Interest from other clubs never hurts your future negotiation-power.

Shall we begin to make stupid bets about if he stays or not? I mean, how many in here truly believes that he will leave? I know it is some forum-members little pet-dream to sell him, cash in and buy aaaall the players they have in their Barcelona Football Manager save, but that doesn't make this rumour more reliable.

Scenes when he stays but we promised to sign Lima to keep him and his dad happy.

If this shit is all about him wanting Barca to sign on of his pals then I hope Barto finds hs spine hidden somewhere and tells him to fuck off.
But again, I doubt there is much about these rumors but Neymar being pleased with his name hitting the headlines and his "price" getting up.

Wrong.

It's all relative to the market. We've had plenty of players who had massive release clauses (relative to the market at that time) in their contracts. For example, Adriano a few years ago had a 90m release clause.

The release clause in Spain isn't the end all of transfer negotiations, a player can be sold for much lower than their release clause if the Spanish club is open to transferring the player. At the same time, the release clause is a means of the club saying the player in not for sale.

If we are entering an age where oil rich club can trigger 200m release clauses, we will double or triple that to prevent them from taking players who we have no intention of selling.
