What a waste. He was soooo good in 2015-2018. Too much too soon. Where would you rank Neymar amongst the best players of the past 10 years? Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, Xavi, Suarez, Robben, Ribery... Surely he is up there.

Surprised he's already 30. He's wasted his peak.

Just another Brazilian player who was good for a bit and then bombed.

He was arguably in contention for 3rd best player in the world when he left Barca.

He took a chance to be the main star at PSG but it didn't work out due to lack of CL success.

But the move was justified. PSG could afford to pay his release clause and wages, while also continuing to field a competitive enough team around him on paper.

It was a risk that didn't work out and I don't think he'll leave the legacy he wanted to, unless he leads Brazil to WC2022.

Who has a bigger legacy and why?

Neymar or Suarez??

I think Suarez has, mainly because of the reputation of the Premier League and how he performed there too.

Neymar's stats for PSG before this season were phenomenal to be fair but they haven't won anything they weren't winning without him but PL & La Liga >>> La Liga & Ligue 1.

Suarez also won a Copa America with Uruguay which you'd probably think beats Olympic gold.

In terms of natural ability Neymar is the most talented player of the last 10 years but ultimately wasted his peak with a bad career move.

Neymar is a dick. A talented one but a dick. I fucking love how PSG are stuck with him. 😂
They are made for each other. Alit of bling, flatter to deceive but no substance.

It's a close one. Both will be remembered long after their playing days, but which will have etched in the memories more?

+ Suarez lead Atletico to la liga title last season

If you look at the 2017/18 pre-season Neymar was the main man in all three games before he left (Juventus, Man United, Real Madrid). Messi and Suarez were doing everything they could to get him to stay, allowing him to be more inverted.
It's so annoying that a player of his abilities had the mindset of, I have to be 'The One'. Despite all the issues we had in 16/17, we would have seen much better football with Neymar however much Valverde tried to reduce that.
He could have had a new role in the next era of Barca starting with Valverde for 5 years probably winning the CL 2x.

Messi and Ronaldo had the same mentality of being the one at their clubs.

Neymar wanted to be like them. That's why he did it.

Hindsight is 20/20 but at that point it wasn't the worst line of thought.

What was bad even back then, was the club he went to. PSG is suicide for your career in your peak. But then no one else was paying that much money.

Maybe he wanted to elevate a club. Like play savior which is/was dumb. Considering Messi and Ronaldo made their starts and legacy on already world renowned clubs. But it's one of the only theories one could have because on paper Barca's roster was still great during that time compared to PSG's IMO.

Neymar almost achieved it. One CL final @ Barca. One CL final @ PSG.

But couldn't get the job done without Lord Douglas

Stop trying to rationalize his transfer. The guy left Barcelona for fucking PSG in Ligue 1. MSN and BBC era La Liga for PSG...LOL

If he wanted a higher status as a player he should've left for a premier league club.

Dude wanted money and a club to cater to his every need to sate his ego. That's it. He had no football ambitions, if he did he wouldnt have left for PSG. Simple as.
