I'm really starting to hope this entire transfer falls through and doesn't happen. We'd be much better off sticking with canteros as Deulo is nearing promotion and various other promising youngsters are rising through the ranks (Sandro, Rafinha, Dongou, Ebwelle, Adama, etc). Also, Neymar coming in is definitely going to be bad news for Tello, Cuenca, and even Deulofeu. With so many wingers, it's going to be a huge battle to get any playing time. And theres a big chance he'll get undeserved playing time just to pay off his price tag and the coaching staff is going to completely overlook his flaws and not give a chance to the others.

Well put and I agree with your other posts as well.
Even with the sale of the players I mentioned before, Barcelona are not going to spend a hundred million on transfers especially since we already have such a stellar squad. Since Aguero, Suarez, Bale, De Gea and Vertonghen play in the BPL they will be seriously over priced (as most things in England are). Although FCB haven't had many German players in the past I think all 3 of our "problem" positions can be solved with quality players with a total under 60 mil.

Either Hummels or Höwedes, ter Stegen & Schurlle. Bring all 3 in at the same time so they'll have an easier time getting used to a new country, language & team.

Not at all.

I've always held that opinion, but after tonight its much easier for me to say now without a huge backlash. One bad game doesn't make a player bad, but by the same token neither does a player scoring a few goals in a second rate league make him a great one.

The guy has some potential, but he isn't fit to lace the boots of a Messi or Ronaldo, nevermind rub shoulders with one of them in the same starting eleven.

Oh, and he wasn't 'average'... he was anonymous, totally and utterly.

I actually agree. I've watched a couple of Santos' matches and while Neymar is the stand-out performer in that team, I honestly think he is way overrated. He has potential, yes, but I am not so sure he could fulfill it, especially if he starts off at Barca in Europa straight away. Playing at a 'smaller' club to acclimate to the different pace etc of Europe would help him but with the price on his head, only the big clubs would approach him.

I honestly hope that Barca won't make a move for him; there is so much potential coming through from the you ranks, I'd rather they used them than that boy.

Romario started at Psv, ronaldo at Psv, ronnie at psg and rivaldo at deportivo. Meanwhile robhino went straight to Madrid and flopped. If neymar was scoring all these goals at Psv I would say spend 50 million but scoring in brazil means very little. History has shown us that players should prove themselves at European clubs first. Neymar for 20 million is fine but paying 50 for a player who has not proved himself in Europe is unheard of.

The smaller clubs/clubs in weaker leagues can't afford to pay what Santos will want for him. And he'd want to play for a top club in a top league right away, so I doubt we could buy him and then loan him to a weaker league. Btw, I'd LOL if Neymar left for free in 2014.

Hummels + Ter Stegen + Reus maybe?

I don't see anything wrong with that. A miss yes but it's not as easy as you're implying. The ball was bouncing, and he was coming in sliding and stretching to reach it. Hard enough to hit the ball let alone hit the target.

Alves: "Neymar would improve a lot if he comes to Europe. Barça would be a great option, Neymar-Messi would be fearsome, but it's up to him"

Yep, it's clear as day really and for those deeming him anonymous, you're not an astute footballer then...He just bottled it at times and seemed to lose his vigor after getting bullied a bit by Cahill early - something that he'd see a lot of in Europe...His movement, passing and pace are terrific but his finishing, strength and tracking back are really in need of improvement...He's far from a complete player let alone a European caliber striker but his game is simply raw atm...He was the main outlet throughout the match, yet anonymous? :shakeshead:

Wonder if anyone else noticed this but I still get the impression Oscar gets ignored by teammates, especially in that 2nd half - Scolari doesn't yet have a team

this has to be a goal 100%, no discussion. Imagine if it would be sanchez.

It's like most chances if you're going to stick a percentage on it - 50-50. Like PB said, the ball was bouncing and travelling at a high speed so it was a difficult ball to completely control and aim towards the goal. And since he was saw fit to slide for it, that's also about timing and he wasn't spot on, it seemed to hit his shinpads and go in to row z.

I said the same thing about that Alexis miss against Malaga (?). It's definitely not as easy as it seems but most people don't get it.

No one said it was easy. I said a player of his class should bury the ball in the back of the net.

Then every open chance should be a goal because they're all professionals and it's their job. Ridiculous statement.
As Pearlblack said, it's a miss that's true..
