Coming through Brazilian football proves nothing about a player some seem to think.

The flip side of that Brazil probably creates more top class footballers than any other country in the world at the moment.

Some people just have it in for Neymar and will be eating humble pie when he comes over and starts destroying defences next season.

I doubt he'll arrive and start destroying defenses. Unless you mean the weakest teams from la liga.

I'm sick of all this "he lacks European experience" bullshit. It all looks good on paper but I don't buy it for one second. So many players come from "lesser" leagues and do great in Europe.

Look at Alexis, look at Ibra, hell even look at Henry (one of the best players ever) 2 out of the 3 seasons he was with us. All proven European players who just never did it for us. What now?

Your argument makes sense as far as obvious logic is concerned, but there is much more to that in sports. I'm not saying he's guaranteed to be a success but that excuse alone is pretty poor, especially since he's cut down on a lot of the other weaker points to his game (minus the diving...needs to cut that out too).

Edit: And some of the players being mentioned aren't even wingers. Let's stop taking players who ARE NOT wingers and forcing them into the position. How many times do we need to fail doing that before people get it? Despite all his skills, the kid also plays great one touch football with far inferior teammates, way better tiki taka than our recent acquisitions.

I'm already resigned to him coming. This whole media frenzy about him here resembles Cesc's and that means we'll get him even if we don't need him. At this point we can only hope he does well.

The thing about him is that you can make an argument for his not coming as well. My gripe is mostly two fold. Why not get an experienced campaigner like Sergio Aguero who has obvious benefits such as La Liga and CL experience and linking up with Messi etc. Secondly, The fee is enormous.

You can't call Alexis a failure just yet, not while he's still our player at least. Thierry Henry DID NOT fail for us in any shape or form. His trophies won here in 3 seasons out number and out weigh his trophies won with Arsenal, of course he is first and foremost an Arsenal legend. What happened with Ibra is exactly what gets most of us worked up about Neymar  A strong persona, another "prodigious" talent coming into a team with other players with similar if not more talent.

Sergio Aguero has cost City over 45M ,he has been also a success there ,they don't have any reason to sell him with at least same amount of moneyy they bought him with (probably even much more) ,he would at least cost us same amount as Neymar (which you call enormous ) ,and while he is more proven ,he is much tougher to get ,4 year older and some would say he is injury prone
While there a case can be made for him being a better signing than Neymar , I think it isn't fair to mention what Neymar will cost if you want him ,specially with Neymar holds more marketability Value that would make his price easier for the management

Watching Neymar vs. Mogi.
I think he'll definitely improve our attack (hard not to with the current state of Villa, Pedro and Alexis).
It's also noticable he doesn't have quality support among his teammates. I can only imagine what he'll be up to once he combines with Messi.

I'm a huge pedro fan because of his work rate but honestly there's no way Neymar wouldn't provide more of a threat than our wingers have been lately, I agree with you there completely.

Santos wins on penalties and into the Final.

P.S. Santos keeper is class. Guessed the side of every penalty.

P.P.S. Neymar bursts in tears alone while everyone rushes to celebrate with Santos keeper.
Pretty pathetic from Neymar.

Mention of Aguero is an interesting one. Here's a guy who played three seasons in the Argentinian league, 54 games 23 goals in total, 36 games 18 goals in his final season and played just two games in the Libertadores. He Moved to Atletico Madrid when he was just 18, took one season to adapt to the Spanish league, then scored 19 league goals in his second season. He also didn't make his international debut until after he moved to Atletico.

Now to compare Aguero with Neymar. Neymar has 102 games in the Brazilian league with 54 goals (so he's played almost twice as many games and scored almost twice as many goals, in a much stronger league). Last season Neymar scored 14 goals in 17 league games (a much better strike rate than Aguero in Argentina). Neymar has played 29 games in the Libertadores and scored 15 goals (much more experienced than Aguero at a continental level and a very good strike rate too). He's 21 years old now (so three years older and much more experienced than Aguero when he moved to Europe). Neymar already has 32 caps for Brazil and 20 goals (again much better than Aguero before he came to Europe, who had no international experience).

Of course Barca are a much bigger club than Atletico but if Aguero can move to Europe aged 18 with just over 50 league matches played, almost no continental experience and no international experience and become a big success then I see no reason why an older and much more experienced Neymar can't be a huge success.

If NeyGOAT is half of what he is in FIFA I would gladly shell out 80 million for him. I'm halfway through the season and he has more goals than Messi (with the same number of appearances).

But, going off of the video game argument...

Great post, everyone says the same argument " The Brazilian league is shit" and therefore we're supposed to assume since he didn't start in Europe he could never make it. There's no reason why he can't be a success here. He may not be but I don't see why everyone is so pessimistic about him, he's unbelievably talented and no one can deny that.

Someone should tell him its time to grow up! You think the GK could be a good enough back up for us?
