Making around 30-32m for him financially is not bad (although we will make less if what Jammy reports is true)
Sporting-wise, it will not be just bad, but embarrassing if he bosses it at City under the best manager ever, while mighty Xavi saw no room for him at a Barca without DM

Nico has not been a DM for Porto so would be a bit strange if City bought him with that in mind.
Maybe until Rodri back and with injury he may start sitting more again.

They bought him for exactly that, there is no other position they need players ATM
He played most of his Masia years a sole DM.
The fact that Xavi did not consider him good enough, is not Nico's fault

Maybe this season to help.. but City dont really play that much with a sitting DM anyway.
I would guess long term they want him going forward a lot more than that.
Looked at his best at Barca and Porto when freedom to move forward more.
He did not spend most of his La Masia years at DM. Moved there later and was still playing variety of positions in midfield.
To be fair to Xavi he was not at his best deeper for Barca or Valencia or Porto and looked better when more freedom than that.

Nah he never looked all that comfortable there and hasnt been where at best since left either.
Arguments for him being kept ahead of likes of Kessie though.
Didnt thrive as DM at Barca, Valencia or Porto as of yet.

Nico was CM in La Masia and moved to CDM at later stage because he was a big guy. A bit like Bernal.
He played Pedri role at Porto, and this season he even started it as AM.
He is likely to be the deepest player this year, but then pushed forward once Rodri is back. I think that is the allure behind the deal for them. He is a stop gap, but versatile enough to have a long term role in the team.

Have bet on them a few times and majority of those he was much more advanced than Pedri has been for Barca.
As said before he was a bit like a white Bellingham being asked to use his physicality in and around the box for majority of time had bets on/watched them.
could have caught them more often when he was playing that way though as not been avid viewer.
