The rumors are insinuating that Dembele prefers Barcelona to negotiate with PSG instead of PSG paying the release clause today, which guarantees Dembele 12.5m (if rumors are to be believed). That doesn’t make sense for PSG or Dembele.

Why would PSG pay more money for Dembele? Why would Dembele agree to receive less money from Barcelona tomorrow?

Why would PSG waste time negotiating when all they’d have to do is trigger the release clause and be done with it? A higher negotiated transfer fee only benefits Barcelona.

More likely than not, the release clause is higher than 50m. Dembele and his agent still receive a % of that clause. PSG aren’t willing to activate it at the current amount, but are still willing to negotiate. That is why this is dragging on.

The only way Dembele would then lose out is if transfer didnt go through.. where he could most likely make more than 25m in a year on a free anyway.

Maybe it suits Dembele to try and get some of that money from PSG in other ways.....and maybe it suits Barca and PSG if Barce get more than 25m but structured in another way.

Who knows but the media are in no real doubt about 50m and 50%.
