If Leeds get's relegated and Raphinha actually has a 25M clause he'd probably cost less per year than Dembele.

But i guess club would like to get both, because Adama won't stay.

Raphina on 3mil less a year than what Demebele is on now, while on a 5 year contract would almost make up for the 25mil fee. I would totally be on board for that. Raphina is a hard working player and there is nothing Dembele can do better than him. He'd do everything Dembele can do, but is more intelligent and a better finisher (although it is also not his forte).

For lack of better or realistic options, Raphinha on a 25mil buyout would be fantastic for us.

Forget shooting technique, he just doesnt have the brain to find and exploit space like forwards normally do. We deserve better. We need better. Can't wait to see the back of this fraud.

He succeeded with 10 out of 22 passes yesterday. 45,5%
No threatening pass, no progressive pass. One attempted shot, not on target.

Dembele is having a good year tbf, but it has been 4 years waiting for it.
Even on low wages, it just feels good to finally move on

"Good" year is a bit generous. Taking on his man, banging in 9/10 bad crosses and failing to get shots on net is a pretty low bar. We can agree it would be nice to move on, if financially possible.

Good year? He has one goal in the league. Fewer than Busi.

Bar isn't exactly high  He's tied with Ferran for #3 for G+A, with only ~1300 minutes. Was also often one of the only offensive players doing anything at all.

Says more about his previous seasons and our other forwards than about his season being amazing of course, but it is what it is.

He had an excellent run with assists tbf. But there is only so far you can go with an assisting winger on the outside in modern football. You really need them to have the option to cut in and score, which is where Dembele quite literally looks like a deer in headlights.

G+A as in almost no goals and crosses into the box. Yeah...

Most of those goals are the work of the forward.

Are we gonna pretend now that for example Arujo's goal vs Madrid is not like 90% his work (beating the marker, connecting with the cross, directing it past the keeper)? Dembele just put a floater into the area, that's it. It's a good cross, but nowhere near what a forward should do.

It's a bit harder than you think.

You can't just rail him for everything he's bad at and give 0 credit for what he's good at. He is good at beating his man and putting balls into the box, shown by his takeon % and assists. He also puts in a very good defensive contribution, pressing and working hard defensively, whilst Adama since his mini hot start has done nothing because defenders can shut down his game easy and he can't cross accurately.

That doesn't mean Dembele isn't limited in some aspects, but you must give him credit for what he's good at at least or you are just a hack.

A forward has to score goals first and foremost. He's shit at it. He has fewer goals than defenders ffs. Do you see Mahrez having fewer goals than fucking Walker at any serious team? Or Robertson having more goals than Mane or Salah?

Jesus, the fans this guy's got for doing so little. Incredible...

He's not limited in "some" aspects. He's like a steak chef that cooks a shit steak but gives you nice salads. He's shit at most important aspect of them all.

Adama? Adama is a 4/10 player at an elite level, and Dembele is a 6/10 player. One is submediocre and one is mediocre.

If all we want is top 4 in Spain Dembele is a top player for that. If we hope to match up well to the best teams and maybe beat them, he's shite.

I don't know about you, but I can clearly see on the field that Xavi always instructs one of the wingers to hug the touchline, whether Dembele/Adama or even Ferran sometimes.

It's harder to score goals if you are being asked to play that way. But I won't bother talking about this since people seem to think 100% of a player's output is down to the player and not altered by the tactics you are placed in.

So. Question. If Dembele had say 8 goals and 1 assist, would you say that he is playing well?

I think the answer is no, and you would come and write here about how he never assists ever and has 0 creativity as a winger, whilst he only scores tapins.

An assist is an assist.

Can hate the guy and still acknowledge the number of assists is decent and he generally was one of our better attackers this season. Doesn't mean he was amazing, but as i said bar wasn't really high. I'd say no one besides Pedri and Araujo really had a great season all around, that's just the state of the club atm.

Dembele wouldn't score many goals even if he played as an inside winger. Have people seen his finishing and shooting in general?

The only time he's been okay goalscoring wise is when he's played on the LW because as he's said himself he prefers shooting with his right foot, but dribbles with his left foot, which is again why he is more or less useless on the LW.

He is what he is. An extremely flawed player capable of moments of brilliance but no consistency whatsoever. Won't change no matter what you do with him.
