Who is responsable of having set such a low buyout clause for him?
It was a necessary evil. We keep him for one year more in return for a low buy out clause, which also guarantees the player and his agent half of that. We could also have lost him on a free one year ago. It’s a bad deal relative to what we paid for him, but it’s still a better deal than losing him on a free.

Dembele held all the cards. No one can negotiate a better deal unless the player holds an affinity for the club. Let’s see what happens.

Then again… Should we be surprised? He did the same to all the clubs he has been with. Joke is on us.

TBH it's the same for him. He gets 25M today or tomorrow.

The difference is what we get.
The wages offered to him may decrease since PSG would have to pay more, anyways its just about 11 hours more.
I won't be surprised if he ends up staying, you never know with Dembele.

Should have told Arda Guler that he would be registered this year when Dembele leaves. :innocent:

Also that Angelo Gabriel first option looks good right about now...
Arda Guler already has a knee injury, would have been the new Dembele in more than one way.

Sad day. He had the talent of an all time Barca legend and instead contributed close to nothing.

One of the most regretful episodes ever. And as soon as it finally looks like he might have improving fitness he goes to PSG.

Talent of an all time Barca legend is pushing it hard. This club had the likes of Messi, R9, R10, Rivaldo etc. as forwards

He wasn't even close to prime Neymar level and has yet to dominate a big, high pressure KO game for club or country

His ceiling when/if he stayed fit was top 3-5 winger in the world level

Top 3-5 wingers in the world if he stayed fit and built consistency over some seasons in a row is about right.

Top 3-5 winger in the world? 😂 Compare his stats in La Liga and Copa 22/23 to Abde. Not that much difference and one would assume that his replacement on the right would compensate for his assists if he had been playing instead.

How many goals did Dembélé have in the World Cup? Top 3 winger after all. 😄

Better sporting project? We have gotten humiliated in the EL two years in a row with Xavi at the helm, and there is a real possibility of a third.

Dude, are you for real?
QSG is the most failed club in Europe. They amass players with no strategy, change coaches every season, play a farmer's league, and think they are a big European power, whereas in fact they are just trash painted golden through oil money

Can't be compare that thrash to Barca. We are building a young and great team, even with some shortcomings (Xavi being the coach, and La Liga FFP restrictions).
There are better projects in EPL, yes, but not at the worst club one can play for in Europe

He's had much better stats than Abde in any metric other than that which is directly affected by playing time/fitness

Generally Dembele always been a big talent, but also a whiff of a genuine donkey never left him
Seems he's also more concerned about having a cushy seat that puts him in position to always be a feature for the French team

I think that if he had developed as he should i.e wasn't injured and started many seasons he would reach the level of Neymar.

But of course missing that much time through injury is going to kill development and do physical damage to his body. Gavi at 18 has played like half the amount of minutes for Barca as Dembele has which is wild.

Dembele has the experience of like a 20 year old at the age of 26. Reflects in his play a bit as well, still as raw as he was when he started but undoubtedly talented.

Unfortunately it's all would should could.

Same TBH.

Anyways, we need to hold on for dear life for 10 more hours. After that, if they get him and we get 75M... I'm perfectly fine with that.

Dembele is a more developed player, without a doubt, but if we merely look at his output in La Liga last season, he had 5 goals and 7 assists (1415 min). 2 goals in copa del Rey.

Abde had 4 goals and 2 assists (1511 min). 2 goals in copa del Rey.

I am not saying that Dembele isn’t a talented player, but nowhere near top 3 winger in the world. He’s inconsistent, injury prone, unreliable, and often reads the game poorly (with a few wow moments here and there). One thing I’ll say is that he suits Xavi’s cross and inshallah tactics. He’s fast and unpredictable. For both sides unfortunately.

There's also the possibility that Demebele is staying and all these happening now is just media propaganda as usual. So the best thing is to stay off media till tomorrow
