Because RM bought them as young players who were ok with bench at that time, Guys like James or Morata wasn't sustainable when they didn't get playing time, Isco is staying because he became starter and Asensio is growing. They are doing a great turnover policy and that is the key for them.
We are actually starting to do that with B team or younger players, guys like Marlon/Bueno/Cuenca/Mina/Vittinho etc are coming. In addition to players like Digne & Paco who were starters in Valencia and Roma.
Currently I would say we have bigger problem in starting line up than the bench, and I am more worried about valverde too

Not good enough. They are doing that with highly rated youngsters, not any kind of young players. Asensio, Theo Hernandez, Ceballos, these are high quality talents. Ours are either a cut below, or not fit for our style at all.

Ehh, Theo is more or less the type of signing we had with Digne, Denis etc, a good back LB, he has huge potential due to his physical tool although I think he has a lot to learn. But guys like Carvajal or Casamero wasn't highly rated youngsters but they knew how to develop them. I would say we are taking same approach they started few years ago, they have succeeded and we are "yet to see" which is the main difference

True. To compare Kovacic, Asensio, Ceballos and Isco with Bueno, Vitinho etc is way off base. The players Madrid signed are at a way higher level than the stuff we're bringing in. We had people here claim that we are doing the "Madrid approach" because we had Halilovic as well. He would blow up any minute now we were told. Casemiro, Varane etc might not have been "highly rated", but they were hidden gems. Casemiro was a monster for Porto in the CL on loan from Madrid. We've failed miserably in transfer market after transfer market. And its not getting better. Paulinho already signed. Yet another clueless signing.

Don't underestimate their bench players. I used to do that in the past and was surprised by their good display. Our bench players just shit their pants...
