Paco Alcácer

This is a total myth. He was played as a winger and wasn't scoring nonstop like he is now, but his lack of form was consistent with the entire team having a meltdown until the infamous Anoeta loss. If he was really playing so poorly he wouldn't have set up the opener with a pinpoint cross in his first game, against Real Madrid.

he was missing sitters, misplacing passes.
even I thought it was mistake getting him
He was giving assists but was atrocious in those two things above
yeah because we´re going to play the same front 3 for 60+ games a year and never sub them out. why do people think 4 good players for 3 positions is overkill? have you never played FM?

We have 5 players for 3 positions.
You forgot Arda

And Lucho is not known for rotating/subbing MSN
There are countless times when MSN played 90 minutes in 5-0 beatings

Jesus Chirst! When you read some of the comments from some Barca "fans" you'd think we have signed Paco to play for Sevilla or something. You really get the impression that these fans would genuinely like to see him fail for some mindboggling reasons like "I don't like the player", "the fee paid was too big", "the other player was better" and so on and so on.

This guy hasn't even put a foot on Nou Camp and he's already declared not good enough, too expensive etc.

Maybe I'm an optimist in general but i would really like to see Paco succeed here. And anyone else for that matter, be it expensive/cheap, old/young, tall/short etc., because that would mean that Barcelona wins things and plays a good brand of football.

For me to answer that question I have to ask you a question: What is your opinion of Munir's recent form?

I'm not sure how it relates to you not wanting to label Paco as good, but sure, Munir was doing fine this preseason (if that's what you're referring to?).

Because Paco has to be much, much better than even from what we've seen from Munir, who seemingly isn't anywhere near ready to be our backup.

If Munir's form has been good I'd expect Paco to step on the field and at the very least play twice as well.

The same thing happened with Digne, a lot of fans here didn't like the transfer until after his first game, now everyone thinks he's great lol. I expect the same to happen with Paco.

He was missing sitters left and right. Can he pin that on the team too?

The entire team across the board was playing poorly. It's not like Suarez picked up form and stopped missing sitters all of a sudden. Even in his red hot form last season he still screwed up a tap in that made us lose to Real Madrid.

To this day Luis is missing sitters and badly misplacing passes.

Yeah but back then he missed the sitters and regular chances. and didnt score
I cant recall how many one on ones he missed, it was criminal
I recall wanting Sanchez back :pep:

then later on he started scoring

I still don't think it's relevant to compare the two now. One is history and the other is very much the present, and hopefully the future also. Deals have been struck, done is done.

Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the original comment you reacted to, simply stated that we have 4 good forwards now. You retorted by claiming that we only have 3 good ones, which I think is unfair to Paco.

All in all, yes, I have more confidence in Paco than I did in Munir. You don't think Paco is good? Fair enough, let's just hope you'll be proven wrong then.

Sport says Lucho might rest Messi for the Alaves game and could start Paco in his place.

If Paco can't do much better than Munir, who was considered "Not good", then how could he be considered good himself? As of now he hasn't shown us anything with Valencia to suggest he is, at least in my opinion. I really hope he does prove me wrong, hence why I referred to him as potential, but as of now, proving himself is what he's going to have to do. Messi looks like he's going to be rested against Alaves. That'll be Paco's first chance.
