I was defending your opinion.

I said that your method MITIGATES, not creates, the unfair difference between stats from a starter and a bench player.

I was basically saying that your method turns the comparison fair, so the other user is wrong using player's statuses to argue against it.

They'll get over it, Suarez was really poor his first few games for us... :)

This is a total myth. He was played as a winger and wasn't scoring nonstop like he is now, but his lack of form was consistent with the entire team having a meltdown until the infamous Anoeta loss. If he was really playing so poorly he wouldn't have set up the opener with a pinpoint cross in his first game, against Real Madrid.

Cup winners in majority of countries still go into Europe I think.

BBZ the cup in Spain has become more important in recent years not less.

Few years ago teams barely cared.

The moment Paco misses his first sitter there is going to be an incredibly enjoyable meltdown in this thread.

Certainly not from me, I like Paco.

He's a great kid and I have been a fan for a long time. I haven't watched him much these past 2 seasons so I can only now go by highlights but I don't see a player that reflects the fee, for starters. Even independent of Munir's involvement, I don't think it's a reasonable figure - particularly when you consider the selling club was desperate to close deals ahead of the deadline

But even from a sporting perspective, what he has in terms of experience over say Munir isn't significant enough in terms of what he offers on the pitch - I don't necessarily see an instant impact sort of sub but he has a striker's instinct to either convert or setup his teammates. He'll occasionally rotate but Suarez will play the majority of big matches, probably see more CDR action and mopup duty than anything else. When a game needs unlocking, I can't see Lucho sitting Suarez unless injured otherwise. Not a selfish player, very team oriented profile and a natural leader. Plus, he's probably one of the more singularly popular players in his age group within Spain.

All the more reason why it is tough to see it happen to Valencia, the fans & the player himself. Everyone seems to forget he rebuffed Barcelona before, he was adamant to succeed at his boyhood club. I don't like seeing core players plucked like that at the outset of their careers for a Spanish club with a rich history. From a fan perspective, it stinks. Something pretty bad is going on internally for him to leave, not necessarily anything promising for Munir then either. Probably why the deal took as long as it did to go down that late into the transfer window - Robert was allegedly in South America negotiating weeks earlier with some other target(s)

But I'll root for him not only because he's our player but more so because I like him - I just don't think he was the first choice much less enough of a bonafide contributor to bench someone who was already on his ascendency. It's hard to understand and again, from a cantera perspective it sends a terrible message

This is to say nothing about the integration into the squad, all attackers at Barcelona required a period of adjustment to fit in and even Paco will be no different. Does his slightly more experience mitigate the adaptation he will surely require? We'll see

I really like Paco, but he might regret this move eventually, if Lucho won't touch our trio and rest them even when they say they want to play.

yeah because we´re going to play the same front 3 for 60+ games a year and never sub them out. why do people think 4 good players for 3 positions is overkill? have you never played FM?

If only we actually had 4 good players for those 3 positions. Paco is just potential right now.

One of the reasons that makes Suarez so great is Messi. Considering their friendship, I wonder if he would treat Paco the same way on the pitch.
