Both Paco and Suarez will always have inconsistent performances for Barca as long as we keep playing this system.
They are both pure No.9's so they need a midfield to create chances for them. It does not help playing in front of a dead midfield that has lost it's ability to generate goal scoring opportunities.
Imagine if Suarez played for us during the peak of the Iniesta-Busi-Xavi days. We would have been so dominant that it would be borderline cheating.
Not sure I agree with this part. In our peak, we had a fluid system with Tiki-Taka, smooth passing and movement which started in defence, picked up in midfield and ended with our forwards. We had MVP upfront, with their slick 1-2's and walking the ball into the net often. Suarez would stick out like a sore thumb in that team, where everyone could pass on a level not seen ever before. He'd screw up pretty much every play.
Right now, the play is completely chaotic and very often the ball is just booted to him or lands to him through a Messi or Neymar pass, and he just has to finish. This works a lot better for him. You can see how badly he screws up plays where he is expected to put delicate passes or receive the ball with a light touch and pinpoint runners and deliver.
Every now and then he has an amazing assist, but you can tell they are more fluke than genuine skill; okay fluke seems harsh, we are talking about a world class player here, what I mean is, he has a myriad number of poor passes, touches, etc. before he gets one right. Any other player would not get the leeway he gets in this regard. It's just that he has shown what a quality striker he is, getting goals out of nothing, which justifies his place in the lineup. He has been very very poor of late though, and I thought he was our worst player on the pitch against Madrid.
