Perez does a good job in signing big players when he is building a team. Once the team is fully established, that is where his downfalls are. He proceeds to not know how to maintain a team and goes and sign the best thing out and sells important players.

I wished that Ancelotti was a little bit more defiant because he is showing his weakness as a head coach.
You said it best. Why crumble the stability of the team, especially of the midfield which especially requires a concrete setup of players in tune with each other and in mutual understanding. And now have to redo that all over again with a youngster. Not to mention in may affect players who come into the team psychologically, just think "this guy played his heart out for the team and performed at top level and lead the team to trophies and still got sold for the next big name.."

LOL Liverpool have one good season and think they can go head to head with Real Madrid as well as thinking their match with them will be more important than ours.

Liverpool have always been a force in Europe, or at least used to. I can imagine real madrid having a field day against Liverpool less than impressive defence, but they are not to be underestimated, they certainly can get a result from us. Liverpool and CL is something special, they dominated the cl with less impressive teams than this. They werent anywhere near winning the league in the rafa era, ok once, but they were very though in europe.

What I can tell you guys is that with losing Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid will get outscored many times this season and the probability of them losing at Anfield is HIGH.

Line up a double pivot of Illara and Khedira with a deep line and push Kroos up together with Cristiano and Bale on the wings and Benzema as the striker and play on the counter and they'll run through Liverpool's defence. Especially if Lovren or Skrtel gets injured and they have to play Sakho lulz

James will be definitely a starter...They spend so much money on him

They could always play all of them and lose. I wouldn't complain :D

Carlo is gonna have a hard time finding a balance while keeping everyone and especially Uncle Flo happy.

If Ancelotti wanted to be more defensive while still playing all his stars, he could run something like this. Sacrifices a lot of width, but the idea is to clog the middle and let the other team have the ball out wide, then have Kroos and Modric spring the front 4 into lethal counters.

----Ronaldo-------Benzema---------Bale-----
---------------------James---------------------
------Modric-----Illaramendi-----Kroos-------
----------Ramos----Pepe-----Varane----------
----------------------Iker-----------------------

That formation is going to need defensive sacrifice from Ronaldo and Bale, otherwise team will just bypass the clogged midfield for the open wings, or just drag Modric and Kroos to the respective wings where they could be exposed for lack of pace and agility. Don't think that formation would be ideal vs an English team who likes to play down the wings. Probably more effective against some La Liga teams though.

I could see Sterling running riot on that left defensive wing and causing Ramos to get sent off.

This team will get murdered by Barca, it's like committing suicide with Messi in the opposition squad. Pepe is a psycho who even himself don't know what he is going to do next, Ramos will most probably get his mandatory red card in the 80 th minute with Varane in crap form doesn't bode well for the team. Caravajal and Coentrao should play as defensive wing backs to control Suarez and Neymar for Mad-rid to have any apparent chance against us.

The idea is more that you let the opposition have the wings and then you rely on Ramos, Pepe and Varane's aerial ability to clear crosses and use the 3 center mids to hang around the top of the box and stop any cutbacks or shots. I'd agree that against players like Sterling, Neymar, Messi etc. it would be dangerous to let them have all that space, but against a team like Atletico I think it might be worth a shot. They could also try something like this

--------Ronaldo------------Benzema-------------Bale------------
------------Rodriguez--------Kroos-----------Modric-------------
-----Coentrao---------Pepe-----------Ramos--------Carvajal----
--------------------------------Iker---------------------------------

Barca-esque 4-3-3, with Kroos functioning like Busquets, Modric like Xavi, James like Iniesta. It would be a lot more aggressive and direct, and rely more on stretching the play and switching the field rather than triangles in the middle, but with individuals of that talent I think it could work.
