Silly penalty. Stupid sending off. Yes. Arsenal are not there yet, but City under Pep show what you have to do to be Champions.

Nah, you’re taking a legitimate sentiment of “Champions get stuff done” and trying to throw it in today’s win. Sometimes you get the tough wins because you grind out a result like a champion. Other times you get your huge slice of luck as was the case today.

True. City didn't deserve anything today. Bad game.

Imo, City is in a slump in terms of the speed of play (expected considering the schedule), but Pep channeled his inner EV and they are 9/9 . They were bad vs Leicester 2nd half, mediocre at best vs Brentford, and bad again this match.

Champions need luck as anybody does. But City on 95 mins for their composure when both teams were under pressure, had the cool heads. Arsenal had the red mist and lost.

Slump? 11 PL wins in a row.

Yes champions need luck. And that’s what I’m saying. Today the result was down to a lucky few moments. Not peps greatness.

Dawg , no one is saying that City or Pep are trash or they are not favorites for the title. Just that today they played really poor considering they had a 1 man advantage and feel like Arsenal deserved much more..

Yes, EV managed to almost win a title undefeated at Barca with some boring slow football that put a lot of fans to sleep, based on some top conservative defensive structure (credit for him to this), opponents being crap in important moments (with some incredibly poor finishing), and Messi and Suarez scoring the goals when they had to, often with some golazos.

They could not take the pressure mentally.

Sure, but not because of City or Pep, but because of things they have to fix internally. They are still a young team, with no experience for these situations. City won this match because of luck, and because they are by far the more mature team.

Mateka has a more inflated perception of his team than a Barcelona fan circa 2011 and RM fan circa 2017 combined.

Makes it really hard to root for City, despite them having Pep and being a natural antidote to Bayern/Pool padding trophies.

Won an easy domestic double, despite everything being in shambles when he took over, and yet nobody is grateful for that.

I agree with you. But Champions need luck.

Also, first half Arsenal were really good. They are on form, have a run of 5 victories.

But City mentally came through.

That's because he is more famous for some incredible failures in CL. It's as if you have a cake which is half very tasty even if boring and conservative, with some smooth chocolate, but the other half is full of shit. The cake is bad overall.

To praise Valverde, you have to pick the good stuff and completely ignore his massive bottlejobs.

Peps greatness put that City team together. What Pep didn’t do today was bring on subs that changed the game.
