Imo, it's a great top 4. United, City, Liverpool, Chelsea. This will be top 4 easily imo, but these teams are pretty close in value and it will be very interesting. Until late in CL, this is the football to see. Don't like it but it's how it is.

Yeah, the question is in which order...

I guess my point was: frustrating to see good game spoiled by red and goal.

Ref should have option to award goal and yellow too. Much fairer result here.

Could be any order imo.

Eh nope, because Bayern and PSG are arguably the strongest teams on the planet. And those can only be met in CL.

By this metric, teams in CL don't meet all of top 4 in PL. Maybe not even 2 of them. The only games stronger than EPL right now are semis and final in CL. Or quarters if the draws fall in a certain way.

It was like this in La Liga in 2014-2017 as well. It was almost like CL at the top. The top 3 in Spain were top 5 in Europe all of them.

To no one's surprise Lukaku still has a touch of donkey. Not worth the ridiculous 100M+ Chelsea paid for him but still a better player than Werner though.

He swung his arm forward. So red card.
Kante and Jorginho are formidable.

The thing is though, the arm swing seems to follow the contact rather than precede it. I don't think anything he did actually changed the outcome.

PSG v City will be interesting. Pep normally keeps his formation in the early stages, then over thinks it in the latter stages.

Can't give less than red imo, because the ball was going in. So if you give penalty and yellow, that's worse than goal from Liverpool's pov. You have to give a harsher punishment. And the only thing worse than a sure goal is pen for you and red card for the opponent. Maximum penalty. Otherwise, all teams would rather make a pen to prevent a goal. Maybe the other team misses the pen.

In these situations with hand ball on the line, pen and red is the only way. Especially when the gesture looks to be deliberate.

The logic is sound but a better solution would be: forget the pen, give the goal automatically and a yellow to the guy playing handball

+ 'sup with the ref checking the action on freeze frame only

at least check it in slow-mo to make sure contact was actually made

I'd back Bayern or PSG against any of the PL top 4?

Could happen, but could happen that they lose too. The thing is top 4 in PL are all top 8 in Europe atm.

Nomally CL is better but there's a big flaw with the format. Until late march, nearly all matches are under the level of this match. Almost all top teams make it, and save for 1-2 tricky draws in the last 16, until the last 8, the matches are not that interesting.

Only City - PSG is at the level of current Liverpool - City in all the group stages.
