Misconception. Nobody passed the ball quicker in the attacking third better than 08-09 or 10-11 Barca.

By 2011-2012 it was getting stale because players didn't have the work rate to keep it up (and Pep's bad recruiting).

And what happened from 2013 onwards is not a reflection of that 08-11 Barca (from 2013 onwards whenever we've had 70% possession it hasn't been quick and incisive and attacking except for in 14-15 because of a nuclear front 3).

Pep's 10/11 Barca would handle you lot without too much difficulty.

We play quick and much more direct from top to bottom, not just final third. Every second pass breaks the line. Barca held the ball for a lot longer around the middle of the pitch. Your midfield was far more technical.

City are much closer to that style simce they're managed by the same guy.

Ragnick probably has the same PR machine that CR7 employs. The amount of hype behind him when he got appointed is ridiculous , yet there is almost 0 difference between him and Ole.

Valverde obviously the much superior manager to Ole, but this situation is reminiscent of when Setien was appointed in place of EV.

EV was supposedly this all-encompassing, evil cartoon character holding world-class talents like Arthur, Puig and Dembele back. Setien came in with this aura of Cruyffism and total-football and was supposed to bring us back to playing tiki-taka. Sophisticated chess wiz and all! Turns out bloke was a clueless old cow herder that commanded no respect from the veterans and job was too big for him. Team got worse and the shiny Masia toy Puig flopped despite being given play-time. Biggest CL humiliation ever.

Ragnick the German mastermind was supposed to come in make the "world-class" United squad fly. Sancho was his Puig and United have only gotten worse.
