Most of what you just said could be applied to Xavi,
When Xavi has to compete with Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City, Tottenham, Arsenal instead of tin cans then I will accept your comparison. LaLiga is very clearly a 2-team league so 2nd doesn't count for what it does in the Prem..

Additionally, the last time we had been grouped in CL before Xavi took over was 20 years ago. We have now been grouped 2 times in a row with him as manager.

Do you mean over time or right now?

It's really unfair to expect him to be competing for PL right now, what he's doing is already great considering he took over a broken club that has been in freefall for many years now.

Only 1 point behind City as it stands today albeit their game in hand. He hasn't been there for long and the progress is already notable, he has them playing nice football and getting results (only team to beat Arsenal this Prem campaign too).
I wish we had waited for him instead of Xavi but oh well.

He should compete even now considering City aren't doing great and Liverpool have a stinker season, which he is kind of doing to his credit. He is a good manager, but he needs to win titles to be considered one of the best.

So now it's not, he's a new manager that took over a club in free fall, that's been there for a short time?.
It's he's in the epl

Gotcha.

Also has unlimited monies to spend, that's Also a extra caveat to be add.

#full context.

Still a much better coach that xavi though.

He wll be given a long time at United as long as they are showing progress and on right track.

The EPL across board is stronger than ever been.

There is plenty of teams City/Liverpool can lose points to.

Xavi wont be if Barca are not showing the progress they expect. His failures in Europe alone have lost tens of millions for club already at time cannot afford that.

But the fact that United have and continue to pour hundreds of millions into this team for years can't be ignored. 400m only in the last 2 summers.

Ten Hag is coming in to try and correct a lot of poor spending and is improving players already there so far.

He is competing with teams with huge spending and top coaches.

Barca in league compete with one team who will spend more than them and are far better and have much more resources than anyone else in league.

To mount challenge in La Liga need to beat the dross consistently.

Some of the signings did not pan out, but others did.

Man Utd have squanderd huge amounts of money.

It was an underperoming squad that had wasted too much money.

They dont even have a CF and had a midfield of Fred and McTominay before he came in.

Maguire has been shite, Varane was poor last season.. Full backs? Shaw and Wan Bissaka?

Really wasnt an expensive top squad he took over and he has been ruthless with likes of Maguire, Ronaldo, Sancho to this point.

Sure man, but Casemiro and Bruno are stars and hits. Anthony seems a hit too... but early. And Marcus Rashford is a top player too. Their team has potential and they have money to continue to fill the gaps quickly.
