It is an issue for Newcastle/Everton etc already and unless they changed league rules would be same for United.

If it was that easy others would be doing it.

United have way too much clout. Everton and Newcastle are different animals.

United will get away with it even easier than City and rightly so because they have way more assets and revenue than City anyways.

United won't have those problems. Their finance-flow system is incredible. Woodward was great at the business side of things.

Bending the rules here and there will be easy with their power, brand value and PL's corruption and greed.

Hmm...they were poor in Madrid after away leg wins in CL:
2017 - 1:2 Bayern
2018 - 1:3 Juventus (95th minute penalty by Ronaldo saved them)
2019 - Ajax 1:4 thrashing
2022 - Chelsea 1:3 (2:3 after ET)

And Ancelotti's some flops - 2004 Deportivo 0:4, 2015 Schalke 3:4 in Madrid after 2:0 away win.

2 goal deficit maybe. Liverpool wont overcome 3

Lol at the LaLiga>EL talk when the only reason we were in Europa League was because of failing miserably to top Inter Milan in the CL.

Anyways, onto Man UTD. Fuckin diabolical result against your historic rival. Camp Nou would be calling for Xavi head if he went to Madrid and done the same against a mid table Real. As they should.

Just as we should question how we approached an EL tie against a side who went on to lose 7-0 a few weeks later.

True, that was far bigger disappointment than United tie for me, but the circumstances were discussed many times. Very unusual to have not one, but all three CBs out and having to rely on Pique and Garcia, both of who cost us the match basically, since we did manage to score 3 goals.

DId not see that coming. Man U literally gave up after 3-0. It's like they were stunned and couldn't respond. Almost like the hammering we got there some years ago.

Hindsight (not referring to you on that) is a wonderful thing, but look at the matchday bench.

Xavi got it wrong that day. Big time.

And it cost us big.

Cost us big.

I think it's fair to say selections and dare I say, squad harmony, has got much easier and better with Pique's cloud removed. Waka waka.

Don't agree. Basically CB area cost us the match, all goals were blatant fuck-ups by Pique and Garcia almost. Could playing De Jong as a makeshift CB have helped? Possibly. But nobody anticipated Pique was gonna be quite that disastrous.

That was probably the worst match Pique played for us.

Also, Balde at the time hadn't really taken over.

Xavi chose to play Garcia and Pique at CB with Busi lone DM.

All three made errors for goals and were being caught by pace of Inter who probably should have scored more than the three they did.

Then he had Alonso LB and Roberto RB.

Those decisions are on Xavi.

He could easily have had FDJ on to help Busi protect the defence. He could have had Alba on at LB and Alonso CB with Balde RB.

All that adds pace and protection to a defence and not leaving it completely exposed as Xavi did.

He got it badly wrong.

Those CBs played because they were the only natural CBs available for the game, with Kounde, Christensen and Araujo (the 3 main CBs) in front of them all out injured. That's the main reason this happened.

Nope...Alonso has played CB since and as said he left out FDJ/Alba and Balde.

Awful stuff from Xavi and paid the price.

Should have been FDJ in midfield to help the legless Busi protect that weakened defence and Alba/Balde and Alonso all in at back.

Anyway it goes bak further.

His fuck up of tactics v Frnkfurt probably cost the EL and pot 1 anyway.
