Where did the idea of making someone pay 75% tax come from? It is ridiculous.

The 75% tax applies only when someone has an income greater than 1 million Euros and only to the amount of money that are over this first million.
Anyway, as Bertus suggests, Socialists and immigrants are a plague. Our world needs more nationalists, more Sarkozys and Merkels. Also, it goes without saying, that having a marketable Football League should be the number one priority of every country with a struggling economy.
I think Bertus suggested ILLEGAL immigrants as part of the plague. Otherwise, we all are immigrants somewhere down the line and the plague ourselves.
The top tax rate in the US during the 1950s used to be close to 90%. That meant after a certain amount of income was reached, income generated after that standard would be taxed at 90%.
Can anyone explain what the purpose of the tax hike is in France? Debt? More social programs?

The law is planned to be applied only for two years and it will affect a few thousands in a country of 65 million people.
The economic crisis affects France's economy very much and especially, as always, the lower and middle class. So the purpose of such a tax hike is that people with lower incomes won't have to pay more taxes. To be honest I don't believe that this measure will solve France's problem in the long run, but it will sure help some poor families to live a better year or two.
Personally I find dangerous the portrayal of immigrants, illegal or not, as the root of all evil in western societies or as a plague. It is inhumane, insensitive and more often than not it breeds racism and violence.
That was sorted out when they signed their contracts, i remember it being their being an issue then it was resolved....I am an immigrant myself to the US. I really have not heard anywhere that the immigration, legal or not, is the root of all evil in Western societies. In the US, illegal immigrants tend to get portrayed in a very negative light as leeches and so forth. Most Americans, when they think of illegal immigrants, tend to think of Hispanics and Mexicans in particular.
Personally, I'm not particularly a fan of people breaking the law to enter into a country. That really is my only gripe with it. The positives tend to be that like other immigrants, they assimilate into the American culture over a generation or two. Economically, they pay taxes and add to the US economy by doing work that others won't.
By the way, to get the topic back on point, what are the odds of an exodus by Ibra and Thiago Silva because of the tax hike?
